Shanahan's 1st Round Pick In '26 Draft

 KC Concepcion

Good route runner. High level athleticism. Very strong, physical player after the catch. Extremely hard to bring down. Tracks the deep ball really well. Dangerous return specialist. Excellent through contact receiver. Very explosive, and has a good catch radius. Excels underneath as a receiver with good speed. Lethal punt returner and RAC weapon. Extends really well outside of his frame to make catches. Excellent stop and go ability. Maintains concentration very well through traffic. High level route runner. Settles down well between zones. Good run blocker on the boundary. Very good contact balance. Tiptoes the sideline very well.

With the 49ers likely drafting in the lower 20's I believe Kyle Shanahan will love Concepcion as a prospect in his offense and he'll likely still be on the board. He would pair perfectly with Purdy.

    2. Brock's only 25 years old. How long did it take Stafford?

Stafford should send Tartt a present every Christmas for being nice enough to drop that interception.🎁

      Delete
    3. Are the NYGiants still sending Christmas gifts to Roger Craig for fumbling inside their 5yrd line? Football is not a perfect game and even great players make mistakes. Montana had his share of them. But I only remember him being the major component of the glory years and Superbowl wins.

      Delete
    4. Stafford threw that ball right into Tartt's hands. You can't deny that play sticks in your craw just like Craig's fumble.

      Delete
    5. Craig's fumble can still cause me angst, but so can Purdy's overthrown pass to Jennings for a possible SB win against the Chiefs. Again, football is not a perfect game. All I can do is hope the 49ers can win another SB soon whether it's with Purdy or someone else.

  4. Robinson had 3 missed tackles, and 3 catches on 3 targets on Monday for 35 yards. He was the lowest graded player on defense, per PFF. Given the history with Kendricks, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he starts Sunday.

RE Shanahan's 1st Round Pick In '26 Draft
    * NFL Scouting Report(s):
    * Makai Lemon, WR USC is considered a more complete receiver, with a technical foundation, separation ability, and versatility for both slot and outside roles. His primary weaknesses are his size, which can be exploited by press coverage and lack of explosive first step to separate vertically on the outside.
    * KC Concepcion, WR Texas A&M is a nimble, crafty slot receiver known for his route-running and feel for space, but needs to add strength to overcome physical limitations at the NFL level.
    * Lemon has a smoother transition path, while Concepcion excels in the intermediate areas but has shown a slight dip in production recently, making his 2025 season crucial for scouts.
NOTE: Concepcion's 2025 season has shown significant improvement in his new role at Texas A&M compared to his 2024 season at NC State.
College playoffs, Bowl games and NFL combine will likely determine
who KS would draft in 2026 Rd #1 draft.

RE Lemon, USC WR going top 15 in 2026 draft
You could be right? I'm seeing him going between Pick #15 and pick #20. I believe scouts will look at tape when USC played ND and Oregon.
      * Oct 18/25 VS ND CB Leonard Moore held him to 4 receptions.
Lemon had trouble getting off the LOS and disrupted his routes.
Nov 22/25 USC VS Oregon: CB's Theran Johnson and S Dillon Thieneman held him to 7 catches, but only 34 yards.
      * I don't believe USC qualified for the college playoff and don't
know if they're invited to a bowl game? So I believe NFL scouts will look at those two games and their reports will say he has trouble getting off the LOS against physical DB's?

    2. Big boards this far out from the draft are going to be very far off what the final rankings and selections end up being. Don't put too much faith in what you see and read right now.

Main thing is most pundits seem to think the WR group is reasonably strong.

      Delete
    3. Tyson, Lemon and Tate are likely the first 3 WR's off the board.

      Delete
    4. Scooter / Razor
Scooter: Couldn't agree more about big boards. While I agree with Razor, that Lemon is the 3rd WR on most big boards (after
tyson and Tate), I think both he and Concepcion will be drafted lower than where they're shown on big boards today. Why? Because of their size and they have trouble with big physical DB's and their blocking.
Just my opinion, but we'll see If I'm right or wrong where they
      get drafted.
Also, don't sleep on Chris Brazzell II, WR Tennessee. Again,
just my opinion, but I think some GM / HC will fall in love with
him and draft him ahead of Lemon. If I'm wrong, you get to remind me of it...lol

      Delete
    5. I'm looking forward to watching some of these WRs over the next few months. Big question for mine is what type of WR will Shanahan desire? I know he says he doesn't really mind as long as they are good players, but assuming Jennings and Aiyuk are gone, that's a couple of outside WRs they need to replace.

      Delete
    6. Scooter is right... ratings right now are nearly worthless. Many are still going off of preseason rankings. My draft crush so far is Derrick Moore is not rated in the top 150 by a lot of publications. If we could get him in the 2nd I would be dancing for joy.

As for wr I like Chris Brazzell a lot. Hes a big bodied speedster who runs crisp routes albeit on a limited routed tree. He's good against press man and a pretty good contested catch guy. What I like most about him is he could move Pearsall to flanker so Pearsall would have free releases off the line.

That said I see KC as a Deebo like player who is amazing after the catch plus hes an amazing punt returner. So he would also be a nice addition.

      Delete
    7. Pearsall is our Z. JJ has been filling in as our X.

"Many are still going off of preseason rankings." Yes, I agree and
Why the video of WR's I'm looking at are all from 2025 season.

    9. Good call on Derrick Moore, Shoup. He looks really good, and a perfect fit for how the 49ers like to play.

      Delete
    10. Shoup
      RE Derrick Moore, EDGE Michigan
I have him mid 3rd round. (pick #80 - #90) He Fits 9ers wide 9, has good get-off, explosion, and speed. experienced playing from 2 point, 3 point, and 4 point stances and is considered a strong run defender who can handle power blocking.
Games I watched: Washington, Michigan State, and Purdue in October and November 2025, where his quick burst allowed him to record multiple sacks and force a fumble against Washington. His speed was a key tool in the games against USC and Maryland as well, where he forced a fumble and sacked the QB.

      Delete
    11. I like him a lot and would take him the second if we don't go edge in the first. Though that will depend a bit on his combine measurements. He looks to hold up well on the edge which matches with his supposed 6'3 250+ measurements but college measurements are iffy at best imo. While Bailey and mason Thomas might be better pure rushers he's not far off and isn't a liability in the run game.
Really curious what he does against OSU.

      Delete
    12. How's his speed to power? Ankle flexion? Hand technique? Pass rush arsenal?

      Delete
    13. Speed excellent. Speed to power better than most in this class that's what I like most about him vs the rest of the class. Ankle flection (cornering very good), hand fighting, average needs work. Pass rush arsenal is based around his speed. Threatens the edge, if the tackle can keep up he uses an a bull rush or if they overset head a quick inside move.
He appears rocked up so his growth is limited. So that's why his measurements will be critical imo.

      Delete
    14. Good breakdown Shoup. If he has short arms you'll likely be able to get him in Round 3.

  8. If the 49ers release Aiyuk this offseason with a post-June 1 designation, they GAIN 2026 cap space -- even with the dead-cap hit, because they're free of 2026 payments. Then they'll get even more 2027 space.

  12. It's a shame that the Lions are the team in the North with the easiest remaining schedule. Even if they lose to the Packers, they're still a good shot at 11 wins. Their game against the Bears in week 18 could be crucial to the playoff picture.

  13. Goff is not a SB type QB. And Campbell takes too many 4th down gambles.
We'll see how it plays out for them.

  15. Niners (8-4) are now a full game ahead of the Detroit Lions (7-5) for the 7th seed of the NFC playoffs.

They can pull up by 1.5 games if they win Sunday Vs Browns.

    1. Problem is, outside of the Rams game, the Lions have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way. Though all of a sudden the Cowboys game is looking a bit tougher for them next week.

Speaking of the Cowboys, they're now a chance of making the playoffs. They're remaining schedule is pretty easy, with the two tough outings being next week against the Lions and week 16 vs the Chargers.

49ers may need to get to 11 wins to get in.

      Delete
    2. Winning 3 games out of the next 5 leaves nothing to chance.

      Delete
    3. What we have going for us is that we will be at most 4-2 in division and 8-4 in conference. So 10 games should get us the 7th seed, winning tie breakers against all teams. Personally, I think we will win 11, while I won't be surprised if we win against the Colts and/or Bears taking our tally to 12.

I thought the Lions would get in as NFC North champs, but they still have games against the Rams, Cowboys, Steelers, Bears who all have winning records and their one "easy" game is against the Vikings whom they lost to earlier in the season.

So Lions can win all 5 or lose all 5 from here on out. Cowboys vs Lions next Thursday is a very important game with the loser virtually out of playoff race.

  17. What 49ers QB Brock Purdy learned from watching film of three-interception game
    https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/49ers-qb-brock-purdy-learned-172334001.html
I believe what BP said, confirms what both OldCoach and myself thought was the reason for his 3 int's. If his turf toe is affecting
his throwing, the freezing weather in Cleveland willl only make it
    worse.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I didn't see anything where Purdy said it was his toe that caused the interceptions.

    2. GEEP,
The big problem this Sunday is regardless of how Purdy's toe feels he sucks in weather as well as Schwartz owns KS

    3. This narrative that Brock sucks in weather is lazy. All qbs struggle in bad weather.

      Delete
    4. Razor,
Very true but some suck more. Anyways no need to debate it we will see this Sunday whether BP is especially bad or just Avg bad

      Delete
    5. Well, Matthew Stafford has a 1-9 record in rain or snow. Brock Purdy went into Seattle and won in the rain. (1-3 record)

Losing sucks no matter how you slice it Old Coach.

      Delete
    6. I made a mistake. Purdy 2-3 record in rain/snow and it was two playoff games.

      Delete
    7. I could be wrong (my memory isn't what it used to be) but I believe in those 2 playoff wins BP struggled mightly when it was raining and his play picked up tremendously when the rain eased/stopped

      Delete
    8. OldCoach, take solice in the fact that Brock didn't "suck" enough to lose either playoff game.

      Delete
    9. True dat. I am actually more concerned with his health than his general ability

      Delete
  18. Lamar Jackson looked like crap tonight, even with his 3 interceptions Purdy looked 10 times better than Lamar. Burrow looked like crap too what Burrow missed 14 passes in a row in the red zone this past game. These are supposed two be topflight QB's.

  20. After some initial viewing of some of the WRs in the 2026 draft, my take is Chris Bell from Louisville would fit nicely.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Bell is on my radar as well if Concepcion is gone.

      Delete
    2. I heard about him on first draft. They like him a lot... Haven't seen him myself.

      Delete
    3. Shanny loves his in breaking, over the middle routes, and that's where Bell excels. And with his size and speed he has proven in college he can easily turn any of those plays into huge chunk gains.

He's also got the speed to threaten deep, which also helps him be a threat on comebacks despite not having the best route running skills right now.

With Aiyuk and Jennings both likely gone, plus Deebo already gone, Bell feels like a good complement to Pearsall and Watkins.

      Delete
    4. I'd have to agree, Scooter on Bell a better compliment and I'd add he has the prototypical traits to develop into your X wide receiver.

This early in the game you just hope to nail at least one of the players the 49ers will have under consideration with that 1st round pick and I thought I did that last year around this time with Walter Nolen.

      Delete
    5. Yeah, you had Nolen pegged early.

I do wonder whether Bell will end up being a draft riser, given his size, speed and production this year.

      Delete
    6. I expect Bell, Boston, Concepcion, Brazzell II to all be in that late 1st round grouping. It'll be pretty much pick your flavor.

      Delete
    7. Haven't looked at Boston yet. Concepcion looks good, but think he needs to be off the LOS, which is also where Pearsall is best.

Brazzell looks good for a vertical offense. I don't see him as a fit for the 49ers, but there will be teams that love him.

      Delete
    8. Lol, ok, just watched some Boston. Hand in the pick now. He's the most Shanahan WR you could find.

      Delete
    9. Razor / Scooter
RE Chris Bell, WR Louisville: Deebo in a bigger body. He fits the 9ers' ZBS scheme with his size and ability in the open field, but struggles with getting off press coverage and creating separation on short routes against tight coverage.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuTMeUV3z-I

      Delete
    10. The comp I see most commonly for him is AJ Brown.

Regardless, what I see in Bell is elite athletic talent in a guy that is developing his receiving skills, but currently relies mostly on his athleticism to win. Likely would need manufactured touches early in his career to be productive, but with good coaching and work ethic has the tools to be a monster over the middle of the field while also providing a decent perimeter threat as defenses have to respect his vertical ability.

      Delete
    11. After watching Bell I can see why Scooter likes him. He's a thick bodied explosive player whose hard to bring down. Reminds me of bigger more polished Deebo.
He has very good hands but isn't a natural plucker or he lets the ball come to him too often imo. That said he's a better fit for our offense than Brazzell

      Delete
  21. As stongly as I felt we'd go defensive line last year in Round 1, I feel the same way this coming draft that it will be wide receiver.

  24. There's a kid named Nyck Harbor, WR South Carolina. He's an interesting specimen coming in at 6' 5" 235 lbs that runs a 40 under 4.3.
He's a late comer in football having been on the TrackTeam.. He could add 15-20 lbs and possibly transition to TE. Perhaps the 49ers could draft him with one of their 4 3rd rd picks. Some talking heads feel that he may go in the 2nd rd. But at the moment this falls under the TBD.

    2. Thanks Coach. I don't know why im stuck on the 3rd rd. If the 49ers draft somewhere between 18-25 in the 1st rd, maybe a team like the Jets', Raiders or another needy team would give up some 2-3 rd picks for the 49ers rd 1 draft position.

  25. TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS, THE 9ERS WILL NEED A WIN AGAINST THE 3W & 8L BROWNS ON A FREEZING COLD, WET DAY WITH SNOW AND WIND!
TO GET A WIN, THE 9ERS MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:

    * Playing in inclement weather, the 9ers CAN NOT turn the ball over.
    * TW must protect BP from the Browns DE Myles Garrett and the 9er IOL must protect BP from DT's Maliek Collins and Mason Graham.
The Browns' elite D-line will look to generate pressure and force BP into risky throws and fumbles.
    * the 9er O-line must also open running lanes for CMC and Robinson! They can NOT let the Browns D make them one dimensional.
    * The O-line will need to give BP time to find his receivers. BP will need to get the ball to Kittle and keep the chains moving,

    * Cleveland QB will be rookie Sanders, in his 2nd NFL start. Saleh will
try to confuse him with pressure using complex schemes and force him into making mistakes and turnovers. He has shown a tendency to hold the ball and stare down receivers. But Sanders is a mobile QB who can move out of the pocket and take shots downfield to his WR's Jamari Thrash and David Njoku and exploit the 9ers' DBs.
    * Sanders will use his running backs, Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson, to try to control the clock, keep the ball out of Purdy's hands and sustain long drives against the 9er D.
    * If the 9ers can move the chains, sustain drives and score in the red zone with CMC running the ball and passing to Kittle, the 9ers will be
9W - 4L, with a bye week to rest up and get healthy for the final push
to make the playoffs, against the Titans, Colts, Bears and Seahawks.
    * Considering the weather in Cleveland, this could be a low scoring
    game.....9ers win 17 to Clevelands 16
