All Is Forgiven

The 49ers and Jauan Jennings have agreed to a revised contract that would add $3 million in play-time incentives, per Schefter. Now Jennings can earn up to $10.5 million. The Mosterati deal was the best I thought he'd get and that's what he got.

  1. I'm betting JJ draws a personal foul in this game.

  2. Yep, that was the most likely outcome. A little extra to reflect his contribution but no change in length of contract.

  3. I had a feeling that Jennings and the 49ers would come to some agreement this week. The only question now is will he be ready to play on Sunday.

  4. My prediction. Jennings will have a career years 1,200 to 1,350 yards and 8 to 10 TDs. He will sign with another team this off season and the 49ers will regret not signing him to an extension.

    1. Last year was a special year due to injuries at the position and Deebo having an off year. I don’t see JJ having a repeat of last year unless the injury bug hits the position again.

  5. I haven't seen the "incentives" set forth for JJ, but if he has a slow start out of the gates he may have a hard time reaching them. Especially if Pearsall has a breakout year and Aiyuk eventually returns to his pre-injury status. Also, if Jennings has a slow start there's a possibility that when Demarques Robinson comes back Jauan may be looking over his shoulder given that DR had a good TC. Many variables may arise if JJ starts slow.

    1. AES,
From what I have heard the incentives are playing time incentives and they are pretty easily attainable.

  6. Coach
Jennings may have backed himself in a corner if the incentives include playing time. If he is injured and misses games that incentive is immediately off the table. And if he sustains a major injury his trade/FA ability loses traction. As I mentioned earlier, the ascending play of Pearsall and with CMC catching passes along with the returns of Aiyuk and Robinson, it may become a challenge for Jauan to reach particular incentives.

  7. Back at practice today:

    - Jordan Watkins
    - Jordan James
    - Yetur Gross-Matos

  8. With everyone practicing, I think it is going to be very tough to determine who will suit up and who is inactive on Sunday.

This is my guess on the inactives:

    Drew Moss
    Darell Luter Jr
    Jordan James
    Jordan Watkins (easing him slowly)
    YGM (easing him slowly)
    Nick Martin or Jake Tonges
One DL : Alfred Collins or Jordan Jefferson

  9. Limited Participation in Practice
DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee), RB Jordan James (finger), WR Jauan Jennings (calf), RB Christian McCaffrey (calf), G Dominick Puni (knee), WR Jordan Watkins (ankle)

    1. McCaffrey calf sounds ominous. I hope it is not serious.

He must have walked under a ladder, carry a black cat, named "thirteen". Poor guy....can't seem to catch a break after the Offensive player of the year season.

  10. If they go with 8 DL that means 3 are inactive. I think the secondary is too thin to inactivate a cb.

  11. Horrible start for Philadelphia vs C'boys. 1. One of their players is injured on the 1st play of the game. 2. Jalon Carter walks over to the Boy's huddle and spits on Dak Prescott. If the league does not lay a heavy penalty on Carter whether by fine or suspension they have lost credibility.

    1. Hope they suspend him at least a game.

    2. I think it deserves a suspension for the whole season. Outside of sport its interpreted as an assault. When someone spits on someone else it's vial and disgusting and in some instances can be life threatening.

  12. Yeah, Bill Romanowski received a $7,500 dollar fine for spitting in the face of JJ Stokes. There should have been a suspension for Romanowski's nasty disrespectful action.

  13. As of today the news regarding CMCs calf has not been reported as serious. But if he can't play the full game in Seattle it looks like B. Robinson will take a share of snaps. That being said, is this an indictment on Guerrendo?
It will be interesting to see how this potentially plays out on Sunday.

  14. CMC in uniform warming up at practice today, lol.

  15. Maybe he runs for over 100 yards on Sunday, lol.

  16. Glad Jennings and the 49ers got a deal done, though Jennings isn't being realistic if he think he's worth more than $20 million a year. He's lucky that the 49ers even offered the deal that they did.

  17. Shanahan in top form at his presser today. The mind games he's playing with Macdonald is vintage Shanahan.

  19. "“Honestly we have to stop the run. It’s something we struggled with last year. It obviously will be a point of emphasis,” Elliott said"

If you can't stop the run, then you don't have to have a pass rush as they will run on you all day long.

    1. The 49ers D gave up a total of 2,118 yards in 2024 which puts them at around 117 yards average per game over the season. Of course not every game came down 117 yrds per game. The 117 breaks down to the season overall average.

    2. That was "rushing yards" given up in 2024.

First 3 drives: 16.7 air yards on 7 att

Last drive: 1.0 air yards on 10 att

  21. The Seahawks O-line for the 2025 season are OG Anthony Bradford,
OG Gray Zabel and C Jalen Sundell. The 3 IOL are Seattle biggest weakness. OT's Cross and Lucas are considered solid.
Seattle, under new OC Klint Kubiak and HC Mike Macdonald run an outside ZBS.
OG Bradford lacks foot quickness, lateral range, and athleticism in pass protection. He'll have problems against one-gapping DT's and sub-package rushers with short-area twitch.
Center Jalen Sundell is an UDFA rookie from N. Dakota St who wasn't expected to make the 53 cut.
Lance Zierlein's Analyst: Sundell will need at least a year to attempt to gain the strength necessary to face off against NFL power at a functional level. He has good hands and timing in pass protection but can get rolled into the pocket by power due to a subpar anchor. Sundell’s athleticism and versatility will help, but it could be difficult finding a team willing to wait for him to gain the strength necessary to earn a role.
OG Grey Zable: A rookie from N. Dakota St. that Seattle drafted #18 in first Rd of the 2025 draft. His primary weaknesses is his lack of arm length, that can make it difficult to sustain blocks against quick rushers, and has some technical inconsistencies in pass protection.
I look for Seattle QB Sam Darnold, who is known to have problems when pressured, to have a BAD DAY!

  22. Why 49ers' Brock Purdy believes Lumen Field is one of NFL's toughest stadiums
    https://sports.yahoo.com/article/why-49ers-brock-purdy-believes-204403989.html

The way to ELIMINATE the problem is, score on the 9ers 1st and 2nd
position and take the Seattle fans out of the game.

  23. 49ers elevate Russell Gage, Curtis Robinson from practice squad to face Seahawks
    https://sports.yahoo.com/article/49ers-elevate-russell-gage-curtis-134031052.html

    * I expect the 9ers to have 5 WR's active for the Seattle game on
Sunday. Jennings, Pearsall, Gage, Valdes-Scantling and Moore.
    * I won't be surprised if Robinson get more than 50% of the reps at RB and CMC gets more reps than normal at WR, as WR's Gage, Moore and Valdes-Scanting have had little time to get timing down with BP.

  24. I'm going to be keen to see how much time the rookies get over the first six weeks. Shanahan isn't usually one that likes throwing rookies to the wolves, but depth issues will likely force their hand at some positions.

Come second half of the season I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of 2024 and 2025 draft classes getting a lot of snaps. But to start the year I think some vets may still get favoured while the rookies wet their feet.

Yea, I agree with your assessment of rookie reps for the first few games...The number of reps they get will Likely depends on how well they perform.
I expect DT's Williams, West and NB Stout to start against Seattle What's your expectation?
