  1. One thing is for sure - UDFAs have a better shot at making the roster this year than in recent past.

In saying that, I don't expect many to make it to the 53 - more PS. The position I think has the least depth (and therefore greatest opportunity) is DB. So Robinson I think has the best shot.

  2. I like Blanton

John Chapman put out a clip on Blanton. The rookie lb is already a student of Fred Warner's peanut punch.

    He will fit right along.

  3. 1) RB Corey Kiner, Cincinnati:
    * Was projected to be a 5th Rd draft pick because he was so productive in college.
    * Kiner is a RB that Bobby Turner would be drawn to.
    * Will compete with RB Patrick Taylor Jr. for a roster spot

    2) CB Jakob Robinson, BYU
    * Versatile CB can play both inside and outside. Would allow Lenoir to play outside CB
    * Put up 21 pass breakups and 11 interceptions, including 1 pick 6, during his college career.
    * Has ran A 4.39s 40. Recorded a 10'5" broad jump, a 38.5" vert.

    1. Does Kiner have STs experience? I reckon that last RB spot will come down to STs.

    2. * RB Kiner's ST experience is minimal, with ~10 special teams snaps in any season.
      * Kiner was 4th among NCAA RB in forced missed tackles, has good vision and shows quick feet in tight spaces, making him effective in short-yardage and goal-line situations. * He exploded in 2023 and 2024, rushing for 1,000-plus yards in back-to-back seasons. He also brings solid ball security

    3. I believe that the RB pecking order will be CMC, Guerrendo, Jordan James, and P. Taylor Jr. I was excited about Cody Shrader last year and he got plucked off the PS by the Rams. Kiner could very well follow the same pattern in 2025.
      TBD.

    4. Yeah, I'm hoping they can manage to keep him on the PS if he doesn't make the 53. And unless James can replace the STs value of Taylor, I think Kiner will find it tough to make the 53 barring injuries.

  4. Robert Saleh’s first press conference since rejoining the 49ers will be tomorrow at 12:15 PST.

  5. The 49ers are inviting Oregon Safety Kobe Savage to Rookie Mini-Camp.

  6. I think Robinson has the best chance at making the 53. I
think Kiner, Neyor, Moss and Valdez will make the P.S. and have good shots at the 53 in the future.

  7. Alarcon, Isaac OL 6-7 320 26
    Bartch, Ben OL 6-6 315 *
    Brendel, Jake OL 6-4 299 *
    Burford, Spencer OL 6-4 300 *
    Gutierrez, Sebastian OL 6-5 308
    Hennessy, Matt OL 6-3 315
    Johnson, Zack OL 6-6 301
    McKenzie, Jalen OL 6-5 315
    McKivitz, Colton OL 6-6 301 *
    Nugent, Drake OL 6-1 300
    Pleasants, Austen OL 6-7 330
    Puni, Dominick OL 6-5 313 *
    Williams, Trent T 6-5 320 *
    Zakelj, Nick OL 6-6 316 *

Niners typically carry nine OL. I see seven of the above making the 53, the * denotes those. Moss, an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State, also has a mean streak in the ground game. Moss can play RT.

    1. Williams/Bartch/Brendel/Puni/McKivitz starting OL.
      Spencer Burford - Swing OT
      Nick Zakelj - Center/OG/OT
      Conner Colby - OG
      Hennessy - Center/OG

      Likely outcome for mine.

    2. Does Hennessy propose a threat to Brendel?

    3. Shanahan said a month or so ago that Hennessy will compete for LG and not center. I think Zakelj is the guy they want to eventually show he can take over Center.

    4. What about DJ Humphries guys? You think he is washed?

I feel he will make the roster.

    5. I don't expect Humphries to make the cut.

    6. I'd love to see the details of the Humphries deal. That'll tell us whether the team sees him sticking or not. My guess is it's not a lot more than vet minimum + incentives with minimal guaranteed.

    1. Another locker room cancer. Hard pass from me!

    2. Yeah, Clowney came into the league with great hype and has been a "barely hanging in" player most of his career.

  9. I see Robert Saleh really praised the 49ers for how much collaboration there is between the scouting dept and coaches.

Nobody knows what sort of player fits their style more than the coaches, so I think it's great that their input is sought and valued.

    1. Agree 100%. It is just common sense in my opinion and yet so many teams don't practice this. I think this was the major cause for the war between Baalke and Harbaugh. In SF the coach outranks the GM. This is how it should be on most teams unless you have a superior proven GM.

  10. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a draft class.
