  1. Razor do you think Bartch takes over left guard and Burford is the roamer?

    1. Yep, Spencer Burford is now seen as an OT according to both Foerster and Shanahan.

  2. There's still good talent left. I'll stay on defense with Smael Mondon. He's a very good LB who could possibly beat out Graham and Robinson.

  3. I'll take Ayomanor, Sampson and another DT please.

  4. Somebody loved Tuten. He's off the board. Who is Bobby targeting?

    ReplyDelete
  5. We might have ourselves a run on backs.

  6. Al Davis is smiling as the Raiders take Donte Thornton.

    ReplyDelete
  7. CJ West? or Peebles?

    ReplyDelete
  8. We have a defensive wall now! Hell yea!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I love that we've only gone D so far, with all 5 picks.
But out of these next 3 picks in rounds 4 and 5, we should target IOL and TE

    ReplyDelete
  10. I finally hit one from my mocks. Scooter heres help for the pass rush. I absolutely love this pick but are we ever going to draft our swing OT?

Is there anyone already on the roster who can fill that role?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I hate to gloat as I only picked positions but shoot, my original five were Edge, DT, DT, LB, CB. Now for some OL.

    1. I love the way they drafted for the defense, the Niners needed that infusion. If these guys pan out just think of the fun in next year's draft.

  12. Anyone know the scope of injury for Martin's knee last year?

    1. I'm not sure exactly what it was but he played in the Senior bowl and participated at the combine

    2. Didn't require surgery so probably a high grade sprain.

  13. This draft reminds me quite a bit of 1981.

    1. It's nice. Saleh is a happy DC I can tell you that!

  14. CJ West

"I can do it everywhere, but my bread and butter is at the 1-technique. That's where I just abuse centers, punch them in the face, be as violent as possible, just creating havoc down there in the middle."

  15. Sanders- again, value........... develop and trade...... and I don.t think Raiders take him, even though they probably should w their commitment to Geno and the holes on D they have.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I got two right so far, lol. Watkins is gonna be our PR this year and take over for JJ next season.

    1. He was a top 30 visit wasn't he? His tape shows underrated speed.

      Delete
    2. Yep, they're averaging 3 top 30 visit picks a draft.

  17. Does drafting Watkins mean they are admitting a mistake in drafting Cowing. I don't get this pick it seems like they all ready have enough slot receivers. With Aiyuk a question mark and Robinson out for the first 4 games it seems like they need an outside WR. This is their first pick I'm not in love with.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I wonder if it is also a sign that they want speed that can beat Man coverage- an outcome of Deebo

    1. Browns finally took Sanders. He has a chance to start there.

      Delete
    2. Man.......... it's all about the trophy- love Brock, but having a QB on a rookie deal is huge. And he fit the system...... oh well.

      James is a good pick.

      Delete
  19. Jordan James was Bobby T's choice!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Another RB....another Jordan. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. James is a solid pick in the 5th round. He will compete with Guerendo for RB2. Now that they have their WR and RB i'm interested in seeing what they do with their other 4 picks

    1. Can never have too many Corners who can hopefully play sticky man coverage........ probably need some OL now too.

      Delete
    2. Safety. Marques Sigle

No OL? I'm a little nervous.

      Delete
  22. Marques Sigle, Saftey with speed and team captain.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Safety w speed- thumbs up

    ReplyDelete
  24. Is Sigle a special team pick? Gunner? If so the 5th round is too early. Thats what they have 3 picks in the 7th round for. I would like to see them trade one of their 5th round picks in 26 draft to jump into the 6th round for an O lineman.

  25. Coach
I'm baffled that an Olineman has not been chosen, as well. Hopefully, they found a diamond in the rough that they have their eyes on later today (?).

    ReplyDelete
  26. I suspect 2 of 3 in the 7th will b OL

    ReplyDelete
  27. A bit late to the party but absolutely thrilled to see CJ West get added. I think he'll be better than Collins. I thought he should have been a late 2/ early 3 type pick. Imo that is 5 guys with potential to start or be significant snap contributors in 2025.

That DL is now a wall in front of the back 7. But I still don't see a lot of pass rush.

Watkins and James add decent depth to offense, and Sigle feels like a core STs guy with some upside.

    1. With the Watkins pick, that's also 4 guys from my last pair of mocks - Martin, Stout, West and Watkins. Though of the 4 I had West going earliest!

      Delete
  28. I hope the 49ers use at least one of their 7th round picks on a small school D end who can rush the passer. Steven Jackson Tex St. if he is still around

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If Jah Joyner lasts I wouldn't mind adding him.

      Delete
    2. I like Joyner too. Anyone know if Fadil Diggs Syracuse has been drafted?

      Delete
  29. I meant Steven Parker Tex St.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Isaiah Bond's legal issues must be more serious than first believed.

    ReplyDelete
  31. If the 49ers manage to come away with any of Logan Brown, Jake Majors, Jalin Conyers or Kaimon Rucker I will be stoked.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Really hoping for Logan Brown Kansas OT. I think he's a solid player with the potential to start on this line.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. He must have something going on. I thought he was 4th or 5th rd.
      Good OT’s don’t last.

      Delete
  33. They'll likely have 7 available spots if they complete their picks in the 7th Round for UDFA's before they'd have to release a player.

    1. I'm wondering if Jordan Elliott still makes sense on this roster. Collins, West and Anderson are all run stuffers. Elliott is supposed to be. Only leaves Givens as a pass rushing DT.

      Delete
    2. The way I see the DL shaking out:

      Williams/Collins/West/Bosa Alpha Unit
      SamO/Elliott or Anderson/Givens/YGM Bravo Unit

      Delete
  34. The Niners did nothing well on defense last year, but the worst was they couldn't stop the run; there is nothing more demoralizing when a team can't stop the run. I do believe the Niners brass at least acknowledge that they had a problem, they drafted to fix it. See what happens...

    ReplyDelete

    1. "there is nothing more demoralizing when a team can't stop the run" So true but on the flipside I posted when measuring EPA/Play metrics stopping the run equates to a win rate of .24% whereas a passing offense contributes at a .71% win rate.

  35. My favourite CJ West stat *courtesy of Brett Kollmann).

Indiana's average depth on tackle against A-gap runs last season was just 2.11 yards. The next closest team was 2.75.

Indiana faced only 85 such runs, which was 104th in the country, but had 29 TFLs or no gains. That was 4th-most!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I can't believe they took a quarterback. Kurtis Rourke Indiana, wow! Mordecai is probably out.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Rourke is just a weird pick for me.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I was convinced they wouldn't draft a quarterback.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Strange draft for the 49ers. Mac Jones and Mordicai already in the fold and they select another QB rather then Oline. Apparently the 49ers feel that there's no need along the Oline.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Next years class all the OL advocates will finally get their wish. 😁

      Delete
  40. What's the plan for replacing Trent Williams who could have a career-ending injury at any time this season or just decide to retire at the end of the season?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Spencer Burford will be their swing OT. OT class next year is worlds better than this one. They'll take one early.

      Delete
  41. Conner Colby outta Iowa, loads of experience play OG in a ZBS.

    ReplyDelete
  42. WR Junior Bergen with the final pick. Gonna be a bloodbath for slot/pr/gadget player.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Apparently he's a return specialist.

      Delete
    2. Bergen returned EIGHT punts for touchdowns his last three seasons at Montana. Slot receiver who averaged 24 yards per punt return last season.

  43. My top 4 UDFAs if there not drafted in the last couple picks Josh Gray, Logan Brown Cobee Bryant and Steven Parker

  44. Now that the draft is done, you might be interested in how well the 19 formal draft mocks posted here did. (I threw all the data into a speadsheet for analysis.) But first, congrats to Razoreater for correcting predicting (not in a mock) way back on January 7 that Mykel Williams, EDGE Georgia would be drafted at #11.

    Inspired 49ers 2025 Mocks :

    New 49ers (8 of 11 49er picks were mocked) -
6 mocks selected CJ West DT Indiana
2 mocks selected Upton Stout CB Western Kentucky
1 mock selected Alfred Collins DL Texas
1 mock selected Connor Colby IOL Iowa
1 mock selected Jordan Watkins WR Mississippi
1 mock selected Kurtis Rourke QB Indiana
1 mock selected Mykel Williams EDGE Georgia
1 mock selected Nick Martin LB Oklahoma State

2 mocks selected CJ West AND at the exact correct pick (#113)
1 mock selected Mykel Williams AND at exact the correct pick (#11)

Stand up and take a bow!

    General-
83.3% of the mock picks were drafted (195/234)
16.7% of the mock picks went undrafted (39/234)
55.9% of the drafted picks were "too late," that is the player was not available where mocked (109/195)
44.1% of the drafted picks were "judicious," that is the player was available where mocked (86/195)

    Miscellaneous-
Walter Nolen DT Ole Miss was mocked 9 times
Chris Paul Jr. LB Ole Miss was mocked 7 times
Jackson Hawes TE Georgia Tech was mocked 7 times
49er Jordan James RB Oregon (#147) was not mocked
49er Marques Sigle S Kansas State (#160) was not mocked
49er Junior Bergen WR Montana (#252) was not mocked

On The Edge

If Nick Bosa can get a modicum of consistent pressure from the opposite side he could end up having another Defensive Player of the Year aw...
