If Nick Bosa can get a modicum of consistent pressure from the opposite side he could end up having another Defensive Player of the Year aw...
47 days til the 2025 NFL Draft.
ReplyDeleteLet's just hope Kyle is finally being marginalized when it comes to personnel, something that I've been saying for years now!
ReplyDeleteMIKE SILVER: "Kyle Shanahan’s insistence on the 49ers retaining Brandon Aiyuk has undermined his leverage"
FACT!
Very doubtful that Kyle won’t continue to have his say. The comment by Silver makes no sense.
DeleteOUCH!
ReplyDelete10 players no longer playing for 49ers will cost team more than $65 million in 2025
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/10-players-no-longer-playing-191542311.html
Joey Bosa and the 49ers are having good conversations and it feels like it's headed towards a deal, per Kawakami.
ReplyDeleteI'm not completely sold on Joey Bosa. I guess that it would be nice to have Joey join Nick. But my concern surrounding Joey has been his injury history especially after signing his big contract back on 2020. Imho, I would rate his signing (if it happens) as a "buyer beware" deal.
ReplyDeleteDidn't he play 14 games last year? I would make it a priority to have a healthy and talented DL rotation as the Wide 9 is like a V8. Burns a lot of gas....
DeleteHow much do think the 49ers should pay him?
Delete$7M with incentives to earn another $3M.
DeleteThat sounds good.
DeleteThe Panthers are re-signing TE Tommy Tremble to a two-year deal worth up to $16 million, including $8M guaranteed, per source.
ReplyDeleteMaliek Collins is the latest 49ers player to be informed he will be released.
ReplyDeleteGood chance he isn't the last DL to be moved on either.
The DL is going to be completely overhauled.
I tried to tell you. Rebuild left of Bosa!
DeleteI wonder if anyone still thinks they go OT at 11....
I think OT at 11 is still a possibility.
DeleteSounds like they're also going to use FA to replace guys. And very deep DL group.
I think it's possible they go with Burford as their swing OT.
DeleteI think its likely they draft one high and one low at iDL and we already know they'll likely draft Femi at 75.
I agree they will likely take 2 IDL, one high one mid/low. And if the right guy is there at 11 they'll take him. Or a DE, if one they really like is there.
DeleteI think OT is their 3rd position of choice at 11.
Yes, Femi sure seems to be a guy they really like. I wonder if they would consider using him as a LB/ DE hybrid?
Leo for sure Scooter.
DeleteThank you Bills and Josh Allen. That deal should help in 49ers negotiations with BP.
ReplyDelete2024 COV Grades:
ReplyDeleteSchwesinger 74.1 | 76.7 REC Rate
Paul 78.1 | 81.8% REC Rate
Bassa 70.5 | 73.7% REC Rate
Stutsman 46.3 | 80% REC Rate
Metcalf going to the Steelers.
ReplyDeleteMetcalf paired with Pickens and no qb to throw them the ball. What could go wrong?
DeleteIt made no sense to me, but what the heck do I know.
DeleteMatthew Golden is the ONLY Wide Receiver in NFL History to hit these marks:
ReplyDelete➖190+ lbs
➖Run a SUB 4.30
➖950+ Receiving Yards
He ranked 1st in 20+ Yard Receptions (23)
He also had a notable High Ankle Sprain in January, he MIGHT run even faster at his Pro Day....
Kaleb Johnson:
ReplyDelete➖Age: 21
➖Size: 6’1, 224 lbs
➖Production: 1,725 Yards, 23 TD’s
He accomplished this in JUST 12 Games and didn’t Fumble ONCE all season (262 Touches)....
Advanced Analytics:
➖2nd in Break Away Yards (861)
➖4th in Yards After Contact (1,060)
Very nice tape on him.
DeleteWell, can rule out Jamien Sherwood following Saleh.
ReplyDeleteFA LBs are drying up. Greenlaw going to be the best available.
Jaylon Moore signing with Chiefs.
ReplyDeleteElijah Mitchell signing with the Chiefs.
ReplyDeleteLosing Jaylon Moore will get a 4th or 5th rounder.
ReplyDeleteLosing Elijah Mitchell looks like it could be a 7th rounder.
The 49ers have had conversations with Jameis Winston to be their backup quarterback, per Josina Anderson.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers with a big addition: Jaguars TE Luke Farrell has agreed to terms with 49ers on a 3-year contract worth up to $20.250M with $11M guaranteed, a deal done by ihcsports.
ReplyDelete.
Congrats to Banks, Moore and Huff all getting PAID. No wonder 49ers couldn't afford to keep them.
ReplyDeleteIt's all going to be about the second and third tier FAs for the 49ers this year.
Niners are signing Luke Farrell TE.
ReplyDeleteNiners are signing Patrick Taylor to a one-year extension.
ReplyDelete29% of Sam Darnold's incompletions were because he was being pressured. 5th highest rate in the NFL, and the single biggest reason Darnold would miss passes. And that was behind a Vikings OL that ranked 2nd in pass block win rate. He's going to be pressured A LOT MORE in Seattle! Seahawks OL last year ranked #30 in pressure rate!!
ReplyDeleteC. Ward to the Colts.
ReplyDeleteJoshua Dobbs to the Patriots.
ReplyDelete49ers should get a lot of good comp picks next year! 🤣
ReplyDeleteDamn. Looks like Greenlaw is a Bronco.
ReplyDeleteKevin Givens is resigning.
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to believe that 2025 actually is a rebuilding year. We could still make the playoffs as a wild card but even that will be difficult. If they don't resign Greenlaw they will need a starting LB, S. DE, 2 or 3 DTs, OG, C, #3 WR, #3 OT and a FB. I am not impressed with any of the current backups who could step into starting spots. Thats 10 spots they are looking to replace in one draft. They are trying to set their cap up for runs at the SB in 27 or 28. I just hope I am still around to see it.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the concern, but the 49ers have swung and missed on some of the splash signings of late and these prices are crazy. Brown (S) Bartch (G) Robinson (LB) offer some potential stability....... I hope they play the value game and bring in some solid players to compete, but it does place a premium on hitting the draft well. The comps bode well...... I am just concerned w overpaying J Bosa w the $$$$ deals today........ owners are going to be jacking prices
DeleteCoach, yes, it's a reset/ rebuild, whatever you want to call it. No doubt. Unfortunately had to happen now or they were heading to some serious cap hell in the near future.
DeleteThey'll still have some top tier players on the roster, but shedding the guys that are good not great on big money. They need some young guys to step up to fill the void, and I am sure they will still add some decent players just at non-premium prices.
dlp,
DeleteI think the 49ers inactivity in the FA market (including letting their own FAs go) has more to do with recalibrating the cap than concern over past poor signings. I think the recent Donaldson and Allen signings give the 49ers cover for playing hardball with BP. I think they believe that if they can nail down BP for around 40 mill while ridding themselves of quite a bit of their back loaded salaries they can build a younger, faster and better roster to put around BP. They need to kill it in this year and next years draft or it may come back to bite them in the butt.
J Bosa- M Silver reporting that both MIA and 49ers have offers to Bosa below $10 mil threshold..........
DeleteFullback Kyle Juszczyk, is being released.
ReplyDelete21 personnel out and 12 personnel in for 2025!
ReplyDeleteWill Shanna update the playbook?
DeleteYep, he's set to evolve the offense and shape it around Purdy.
Delete49ers Area Scout Ryan Kessenich was at Wisconsin pro day a couple of days ago and a person who caught a lot of people‘s eyes was DB Dylan Brown out of Wisconsin River Falls and WR Bryson Green out of Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteBryson Green had an unofficial 4.48 40-yard dash, which stood out, given his 6’3, 213-pound frame that he played at this season.
ReplyDeleteGreen also jumped a 39’’ vertical and a 10’11’’ broad jump, which would have been sixth and fourth among wide receivers at the combine, respectively. Additionally, his 21 reps of bench press would’ve ranked second behind only Iowa State’s Jaylin Noel for wideouts at the combine.
Green’s Raw Athletic Score (RAS) would be an elite 9.97 out of 10 with his current testing numbers.
While it sucks seeing a lot of good players leave, at the same time I also see that what the team is losing relative to 2024 is:
ReplyDelete- a DT, LB and RB that spent most of the year on IR.
- another DT that underwhelmed
- a CB that was not as good as usual due to injury and personal reasons.
- an aging fb.
- a WR that has been declining year on year, and was the 3rd option last year.
- an OG that was ok but outperformed by a rookie.
- a backup OT.
It sucks, and there's no doubt that at their best those guys would go a long way to getting the team back to the playoffs. But the team can survive with some smart FA additions and good drafting.
Scooter,
DeleteWhat do you think their chances of making the SB are 1 to 10? What about winning the division?
Winning SB, very low. Maybe 5% if I'm generous.
DeleteWinning division though... last place schedule really should help. I think Rams should be early favourites, but 49ers should have similar odds as as the other two atm. I'd put it at around 20%. And definitely a reasonable shot at a wild card. Maybe 50% chance of playoffs.
This is based on uncertainty around whether BP can develop into "the guy" and how well the 2024 and 2025 draft classes contribute. If BP plays great and/ or draft classes step up, the odds increase, if BP struggles or they get little from the draft classes, odds go down.
DeleteThe 49ers are placing a second-round tender on restricted free agent RB Jordan Mason, per source. If no team signs him, Mason would get $5.35M in 2025. If a team does sign him, the 49ers would get a second-round pick.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers are the first team to receive the max 4 Compensatories:
ReplyDelete•4th (Ward)
•4th (Banks)
•4th/5th (Hufanga)
•5th (Hufanga)
The departure of Joshua Dobbs to NE is canceled by the signing of Luke Farrell for now.
What about Greenlaw?
DeleteCoach, the maximum comp picks you can get is 4, and Greenlaw's deal isn't as big as the 4 listed. He will count in terms of offsetting deals for guys the 49ers sign though, to ensure the 49ers get 4 picks.
DeleteThe 49ers have signed safety Richie Grant to a one-year deal, per
ReplyDeleteFowler.
So far, the only loss that hurts for me is Greenlaw. Huf to an extent but we have the same kind of player in Mustafa.
ReplyDeleteSo overall, admirable restraint showed in the first wave of FA. I hope we get good depth at Oline, Safety and DT in the next wave.
Looking forward to Draft and UDFA for filling up the holes in - DT, OL, WR, TE3, RB and CB.
I feel we should be good for 9-10 wins next season, based on improved Defense and ST play alone!
I think Mustapha is a much better tackler than Hufanga, and I think he's faster. I like the way he's able to tackle through the player instead of slowing down to make the tackle. His form is excellent.
DeleteEvidently Grant is a ST signing. They still need a S to replace Brown. Brown is not only slow but he takes terrible angles.
ReplyDeleteSMART MOVE
ReplyDelete49ers put second-round tender on Jordan Mason
That means that if a team wants to sign Mason, the 49ers can either match that offer and keep Mason, or the 49ers can let Mason leave and the team that signs him has to give them a second-round pick.
https://sports.yahoo.com/article/49ers-put-second-round-tender-082348181.html
Trade him for a 4th or 5th.
DeleteRazor
DeleteIf the 9ers trade Mason for a 4th or 5th, they best hope that CMC is capable of returning to his 2023 fitness level. * He turns 29 Y/O in June, 2025 and has ~63% chance of Injury this (2025) season.
* After missing Week 1 of 2024, went on IR with Achilles Tendinitis in both feet. At 29 Y/O, his body may no longer be
capable of withstanding the physical conditioning it did at a
younger age and his performance may decline.
* Mason proved to be a capable replacement while CMC was
on IR.
Razor
DeleteCORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG.....My understanding is.....
* Since the 9ers have put a 2nd Rd tender on RB Mason, that leaves Mason open to sign with other teams. But a team that signs Mason would have to send the 9ers a 2nd Rd draft pick.
Correct but no team is gonna trade a 2nd for Mason. I'm guessing with this draft the most they could get would be a 4th. Let Bobby T cook!
DeleteSORRY TO SEE HIM GO
ReplyDelete49ers will release FB Kyle Juszczyk
https://sports.yahoo.com/article/49ers-release-fb-kyle-juszczyk-011327681.html
Down goes Floyd. He had 8.5 sacks last year, but his pass rush win rate (8.4%) was well below average. (also why you don’t judge pass rushers solely by sacks, when they are roughly 1% of the players total plays, and lack context). Looks as though I was right all along that it was a rebuild left of Bosa!!
ReplyDeleteRazor
DeleteAgreed! I believe it is safe to say Floyd wasn't worth the money he was being paid....And is a salary cap casualty!
Bloodbath continues. Leonard Floyd....latest to be cut.
ReplyDeleteJoey Bosa all but confirmed?
Back to our traditional big DE.
DeleteMugeek9er
DeleteRunstop grade also pretty poor for Floyd.
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteFor frame of reference: last year, the Broncos took on $85 million in dead money to release just QB Russell Wilson. (They did a post June 1 to spread it over two years).
ReplyDeleteThe Niners have 13 players accounting for this current amount so far.
Mug,
ReplyDeleteStopping the run at this point for the 49ers could be more essential than sacks. If Joey Bosa (if signed) can help stop the run, getting a few sacks would be viewed as a bonus given that he had less sacks than Floyd in 2024.
Not only that but Floyd's pass rush win rate was 8.3% whereas Joey's was 13.9%.
DeleteYup.
DeleteThe 49ers have signed LB Luke Gifford to a one-year contract, per Pelisero.
ReplyDelete
Delete- 28th graded special teamer per PFF out of 584 players who had over 100 snaps
- T-5th most tackles made on special teams
I don't like this signing. Remember Ezekial Turner... was supposedly a special teams ace we gave a contract to last year and cut him before training camp end.
DeletePlus Gifford is 29 years. We should go younger everywhere. Way too many resources being spent on ST now with Richie Grant/George Odum etc.
Unless Gifford is replacement for Odum.
Probably more a replacement for DFF.
DeleteRazor, if they land Bosa then your previous draft when you selected Membou would be a really good draft.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave!
DeleteTargets? I wouldn't mind Elijah Moore ....... am actually kind of hoping they move Aiyuk at this point... and for the Corner Newsom II, from CLE, as speculated, would work w a late pick or two. After Campbell debacle, they won't touch Diontae Johnson. If they went Johnson (MICH CB) at 11 perhaps that would allow them to compensate for potential DT vulnerabilities by stacking the box a bit more .... hoping Saleh plays more aggressively than we have seen over the past few years. Also, where do they get Greenlaw's replacement?
ReplyDeleteGiven the roster moves so far it is clear the 49ers are now firmly looking towards the next cycle. They've gotten rid of almost every high priced contract that wasn't likely to be around for the next window, except for a few select elite tier players to teach the new core. They've not looked to replace these guys with high priced FAs.
ReplyDelete2025 will likely be a bit of a struggle, though still a chance at playoffs if the youth fires. But really this offseason is about setting them up for 2026 and beyond.
Dang, 49ers comp picks are a 3rd, 4th and 2 7ths. Most people had been projecting it would be a 3rd, 2 4ths and a 7th.
ReplyDelete49ers draft picks
DeleteFirst rd (11), No. 11
Second rd (11), No. 43
Third rd (11), No. 75
Third rd (36), No. 100
Fourth rd (11), No. 113
Fourth rd (36), No. 138
Fifth rd (9), No. 147
Sixth rd (11), No. 187
Seventh rd (11), No. 227
Seventh rd (33), No. 249
Seventh rd (36), No. 252
If the 49ers miss out on CJ West in the mid rounds, Cam Horsley would be a nice consolation prize on day 3.
ReplyDeleteI like Horsley too.
DeleteJason Pinnock, S signed by San Francisco.
ReplyDeleteCertainly adds speed. He'll compete with Brown for the starting spot next to Mustapha.
DeleteTake a look at Pinnock's PFF numbers. It looks like he was terrible last year. Not a step up from Brown.
DeleteSaleh loved him.
DeleteCoach, he was better in previous years.
DeleteThe 49ers and WR Demarcus Robinson are in agreement on a 2 year deal worth $9.5M total with $6M fully guaranteed, per KatzBrosSports.
ReplyDelete.
Smart signing at a reasonable price.
DeleteMaybe the 49ers are beginning to relax their mindset of staying away from players that have had off-field issues. DeMarcus Robinson is in that category. His DUI last yr might cost him a suspension, per Rams GM Les Snead.
DeletePer D. Lombardi the 49ers have 3 4th round compensatory draft picks in the 26 draft as well as 2 extra picks in the 5th round in 26. He also said look for them to be active starting tomorrow as the post June 1 picks are eligible to be signed starting tomorrow. Those signings don't count against their compensatory picks.
ReplyDeleteCoach,
ReplyDeleteI believe its time to come to the conclusion that the 49ers are in a full reset/rebuild mode. I mentioned that a couple of weeks ago (before all the current players movement). I believe that the next big move is moving on from Aiyuk. If this takes place, than the need for a WR becomes a priority. If McMillen falls to #11, would you be fine with the 49ers drafting him?
AES,
DeleteI would rather see them draft a DT, OT. IOL, LB or CB. They already signed Robinson. If CMC is healthy, Pearsall and Jennings will be WRs 1 and 2. Kittle will be Kittle theres not too much need for a #3 WR. I hope if they trade Aiyuk it will be for draft picks in 26. Waiting a year usually get higher picks.
Looks like Nick and Joey will have to wait a while before they play together. Joey has signed on with the Bills.
ReplyDeleteWith no J. Bosa and Floyd released they really need to resign Gross-Matos. If not they are going to have to add 3 DEs and at least 3 DTs Thru the draft and free agency. I don't think I have ever seen that many new D lineman added in one off season
ReplyDeleteNo need to re-sign him. He is still under contract. He signed a 2 year deal last year.
DeleteEdge, Mike Green seems to be dropping like a rock. He's gone from a top 15 pick to an early to mid 2nd rd. If he's on the board at 43, I wouldn't mind the 49ers throwing the dice on him.
ReplyDeleteAccording to The Sports Enterprise Group, former Seahawks CB Tre Brown has reached agreement with the 49ers.
ReplyDeleteThat's 4 DBs they've added in FA so far. Makes me think the chances of drafting a DB is pretty low, at least before the late rounds.
DeleteJuan Thornhill S visiting the Niners.
ReplyDeleteOdum is gone before April. Saleh obviously has identified S as a contributing factor to poor defensive play.
ReplyDelete
