Free Agency Bulls Eye

Danielle Hunter, 260 lbs., Free Agent priority? I think Lynch learned his lesson and makes the big DE his main target in a DE bereft draft class. Who do you think the Niners number one target is?

  1. I love Hunter. He would be better than any top tier DE draft pick. But, he will also come with a big price tag. Hargrave didn't exactly play to his former Eagles status this past season. Paying Hargrave and adding D. Hunter to the equation might present an issue on the books.

    1. Market value is around 20 mill. They've got the means if they believe its the way.

  2. I would like to see the 49ers make a few contract restructuring moves to help minimize cap space going forward. Other than that, I'd be all-in on Hunter. If the 49ers can afford OL Robert Hunt, I would call it a great off-season of FAs signings.

    1. They gotta restructure if they want to be players. Deebo and Warner would be my suspects.

Allegretti would be much cheaper than Hunt.

  3. Yeah, I would be fine with Nick Allegretti. The kid played with a torn UCL in the SB. My reason for Hunt is that he could adapt to the Shanahan system because Miami runs a somewhat similar offense.

  4. What do you think about targeting Greenard, top 10 run stuffer and top 10 pass rush win rate?

    1. Razor,
USA TODAY, has Greenard FA price tag at around $13+M. He had 12.5 sacks in 2023 which makes him a top DE. I would be good with the 49ers targeting him. I just have a sense that DeMayco will do whatever he can to keep him in Houston.

  5. You could also throw Harbaugh a 4th round pick for Mack and extend him for 3 years with the last year being an out?

  6. I love Hunter but he might be a little too pricey. I think they can sign Hunt or Allegretti for quite a bit less than Hunter. Then I think they go with cheaper signings including Ferrell, B. Huff, Al-Shaair, D.J. Jones, Feliciano and J. Jennings. Then draft OT, CB, S, DE and DT in the order of BPA.

  7. There are so many good vet DEs available in FA this year. Just get one of them.

  8. Luke McCaffrey is this year's Cooper Kupp. Hope he's a 49er.

  9. Scooter,
McCaffrey is good. The other kid that I like is Ricky McConkey. He has good size 6'1" 195lbs. Good catching radius and hands.

  10. I meant Ricky Pearsall. My old brain stutters sometimes ☺️

    1. Yeah, both Pearsall and McConkey look good. I prefer McConkey to Pearsall.

Problem is they will both likely go in the 2nd round.

Consensus suggests McCaffrey will be late 3rd at best/ more likely day 3 pick, but great value there imo.

  11. Keisean Nixon is a player the Niners should look at in F/A.

    1. As a replacement returner for McCloud and DB depth, sure. But not as a potential starter at DB, for me.

  12. Free agency starts tomorrow. I have been advocating that the 9ers would make one major signing and 3 to 5 smaller signings. One of the smaller signings I have been predicting has been Bryce Huff. Because of the rash of signings lately Huff has moved up about 10 spots and will no longer receive a smaller contract. I still think that Robert Hunt or Nick Allegretti will be their major signing. I have made a list of smaller signings I feel they might make.
Clelin Ferrell DE, J. Jennings WR, Tashaun Gipson S, Josh Uche DE NE, Tyquan Lewis DE/DT Indy, A'Shaun Robinson DT Ny G, Calais Campbell DT Atl, Jermaine Eluemunor OT L.V., Coleman Shelton C LA R, A.Al-Shaair LB Tenn, Bobby Wagner LB Sea, Josey Jewell LB Den, Willie Gay LB KC, Ryan Tannehill QB Tenn. Lets see if I hit on any?

  13. I'm hearing Lavonte David is on the 49ers radar. He'd be a good signing imo. Still a good player despite his age.

    1. Yeah... I suspect guys like Al-Shaair and Gay will get multi-year deals over and above what the 49ers are willing to pay.

  15. Sounds like Armstead and the 49ers will be parting ways. As I said previously, this is a move they only make if they think they can improve the team with that cap saving.
