Week Four Matchup: L. A. Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers

Good evening and welcome to the live blog for a prime time Monday Night Football showdown. Win and the 49ers are in first place, and the noise quiets down. Lose and you're in a hole, and the noise gets louder. Some moving parts with the return of Bobby Turner, and Al Shaair designated to IR. Snead takes his spot on the active roster, while Turner and Coleman are activated from the practice squad.

The Rams offense ranks 29th in EPA on early downs per drop back, just ahead of the Patriots and Bears. The 49ers defense ranks 2nd in EPA per play on early downs, right behind the Buffalo Bills.

Rams activated OL Chandler Brewer and RB Malcolm Brown from the practice squad.

  1. I'd love to see a Mason coming out party tonight. Go Niners!

    1. The running game is going to blossom tonight, Mason just might be the catalyst.

  2. Pivotal game tonight.

Win and we are First Among Equals in the NFC West. Lose and we join the likes of Commanders, Texans, Panthers and Lions as 3-loss teams. Yikes!

I'm hoping that Kyle digs deep into his playbook and makes a coupla calls to his dad (those screens to Deebo don't seem to be working this season). Jimmy G better make at least a couple of passes > than 20 yards, if he wants to be a starter somewhere next season.

    Go Niners 24-17!

    1. You might say it's a must win game.

    2. No must win games this early in the season, but it would put them in quite the hole if they lose.

    1. Yea, I saw them working him out and then they had a pow wow with him, and Ryans was giving him the news. He then pulled his hoodie over his head and you could tell he wasn't playing just by his body language.

  4. Expect Jimmy G to average below 2.3 s snap to release. If the Rams have a hole player showing up in the middle like we saw with the Broncos, Jimmy G will have trouble with his quick throws. Aiyuk needs to get more separation on his routes, and make himself available to Jimmy G.

    2. Hell of a catch and run by Deebo. I never comment while the game is on. Halftime for me right now.

    3. Heck of a catch and run. Deebo is like superman. I hope we can hold on to an 8 point lead, definitely run some more please.

  6. I wonder if we run the ball more coming out or we stay with these short passes.

    1. Hey, if they can pick a few first downs, Kyle will run, run, run and run some more. But many of those short WCO passes are basically runs. They make me a little nervous because sometimes they get telegraphed to blitzing LBs/DBs.

  7. It looked to me like Juice was wide open on that last play. Jimmy missed seeing him. Probably made the decision to go to Deebo before the ball was even snapped.

  8. Time for the defense to get a turnover.

  9. Looks like the Niners may have found themselves a Young Shark.

  10. Bad drop there by Gipson. We need a sustained drive here to give the D a rest and change momentum.

  11. Impressive drive there from Kyle Shanahan, considering we are on our 3rd string LT.

For the 4th time in as many games, we have the lead going into the 4th quarter. Hope we close this one out!!

  12. Okay, fourth quarter the reoccurring theme is the Shanny blues. See what happens.

  16. Niners finally have a certified ballhawk who can close the deal --- a closer, as Lynch likes to say.

  17. No TD allowed by D -- no sack allowed by O line. All good.

  18. Very good all around game by the 49ers. Not much to complain about. Maybe have the LBs and safeties do some extra work on the jugs machine (2 dropped interceptions; I don't count Greenlaw because that was a really tough interception to make).

  19. Solid performance by the entire team.

  20. What's up with Womack. Is he in the doghouse or has Lenoir just upped his game to answer the challenge?

  21. Excellent bounce back game all around. Near-perfect game played by D. O and Special team can always improve. Kudos to Shanahan to have the players prepared! Go Niners!

  22. Nice win for the 49ers tonight. Good game from Jimmy after last weeks rough performance.
Is it time to shut down Kinlaw for the rest of the season? He has not looked like a fully healthy player when he's on the field.
I believe that Givens could anchor the position until Kinlaw is ready.
Javon was a big investment for the 49ers, and it would be expedient for the FO not to rush him back given his nagging knee issues.
