Sounds as if Kittle is out for this game and Williams will likely play. Can Eric Saubert step up and fill some of that void? I think he ca...
Run the ball, stay smart, hit hard.
ReplyDeleteMan, those Lions. Had the game in the bag for their first win...
ReplyDeleteBut good on the Lions! Managed a 2-minute drill comeback win, to sink the Vikings. That one helps out the 49ers!
ReplyDeleteZimmer didn't bring pressure on Goff. Dumb.
DeleteThe 49ers have been swept by a team that DOESN'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO DRAFT, two seasons in a row! That's pathetic!
DeleteJimmy's in his EIGHTH season, and he still can't read underneath coverage!
DeleteWhat's up with that, Razor?
This is exactly why I wasn't prepared to go another season with a seriously flawed NFL QB!
DeleteLet's exorcise the demons today boys!
ReplyDeleteThis is scary. Fingers crossed Cannon is ok.
ReplyDeleteOkay defense lets go
ReplyDeleteGeez
ReplyDeleteSpecial Teams not so special once again.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or does it feel like opponents are running trick plays against the 49ers a fair bit in recent weeks? And generally having success.
DeleteSeems that way
DeleteObviously teams feel the 49ers can be fooled... and so far are correct.
DeleteThis is what often happens when one "sticks to the run game". Two runs to nowhere and 3 and 10 from the their 15 yard line. Three and out.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty short sighted imo. You'll have those type of drives every now and then. The aim should be over the course of the game that if you stick with it you will wear the defense down.
DeleteWow
ReplyDeleteCan you say DJ?! Two big plays by Jones, then 49ers take advanatage of the Seahawks DJ letting Kittle run free.
ReplyDeleteDJ Jones has been the 49ers best DT this year.
His game-to-game consistency has definitely improved this season. He'll be re-signed.
DeleteNorman's teaching the kids how to take away the toys...
ReplyDeleteThat sure negates the Hawks momentum. Nice pass and catch.
ReplyDeleteNice. The now patented early-game-Jimmy-G-high-throw reeled in my Kittle.
ReplyDelete...by Kittle..
DeleteRazor was right about the AD fumble!
ReplyDeleteHa! Came early too!
DeleteAnd that is why you stick with the run. Good grief JG.
ReplyDeleteAnother one razor called - JG not seeing the Seahawks LBs.
Run the ball.
ReplyDeleteCrazy game
ReplyDeleteNiners settle down and if you do you got this game.
ReplyDeleteJimmy, you got bailed out by Bosa and the D. Don't screw up again.
ReplyDeleteWTG
ReplyDeleteGood things happen when they commit to the run.
ReplyDeleteThey are a running team and yes good things happen.
DeleteAl-Shaair covers every inch of the football field. What a ILB this kid has turned into.
ReplyDeleteThat drive highlighted why you stick with the run. Defense starting to tire, drop off tackles. Penalties cruelled the drive i the end, but that drive bodes well for the 49ers offense.
ReplyDeleteMan, teams are clearly seeing a weakness against trick plays atm.
ReplyDeleteSeattle offense is so bad right now they need trick plays to get anything.
DeleteGlad to see the DB's hang with Locket in years past that would have. been a touchdown
ReplyDeleteSelf-inflicting
ReplyDeleteKittleeeeeeeeee
ReplyDeleteKittle is such an amazing athlete for his size. Incredible balance there.
ReplyDeleteGreat block by Jennings too.
Man, STs have been awful in both games against the Sahawks this year.
ReplyDeletemore self-inflicting
ReplyDeleteAnd more again. Penalties creeping back into the game on D, giving away cheap yards.
DeleteJust a total lack of defensive discipline. Absolutely embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteWay to let a team right back in the game right before halftime.
DeleteStarts again with special teams giving up big return yardage and followed by penalties...
ReplyDeleteAnd Robbie Gould has turned into the most overpaid kicker in the league.
ReplyDeleteOK, now that I got that off my chest .... the good news is the Niners do have a lead and they receive the kickoff. Let's GO NINERS! Keep feeding Mitchell & Kittle, and let's get Aiyuk involved in the 2nd half.
ReplyDeleteLosing Moseley is costly.
ReplyDeleteYep. Seahawks are having some success targeting Lenoir.
DeleteIt sure is but it's not the reason for the score being so close.
DeleteNothing like a game against the Niners to get Wilson going.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Seattle wants this game more than us. Boneheaded mistakes all around. :(
ReplyDeleteThe first drive after the half from niners is going to be critical. Long 10-play drive with a TD would be nice! Go Get'Em guys!
Well this didn't age well! Unfrickinbelievable!
DeleteSpecial teams again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, f the 49ers STs units. Disgraceful.
ReplyDeleteWow crazy just crazy thank goodness
ReplyDeleteMassive stroke of luck. That should have been a TD.
ReplyDeleteHah! Will have Russ thinking of the Super Bowl!
ReplyDeletecome on JG
ReplyDeleteNice impersonation of a speed bump by Compton there.
ReplyDeleteTerrible decision making by Jimmy G
ReplyDeleteThis is problem with running the ball into the teeth of the defense which is selling out to stop the run, especially on the edge. Niners are averagi8ng 8.2 yards to go on the third down which sets up obvious passing downs with a weak O line on the right.
ReplyDeleteRunning from inside the 5 is hardly unusual.
DeleteThe 8.2 to go on third is for the entire game. Of course, playing from one's 5 yard line restricts options mostly to the run. But the box has been 8-men for most of the game.
DeleteYet when they commit to the run they also score points. While when they try and go pass heavy they give the ball away. We've seen this all before.
DeleteKyle will have to cook up plays to loosen the box -- can't continue to have these third and longs. Some screens or other short passes.
ReplyDeleteThat is why we run the ball. Damn JG
ReplyDeleteSo they go pass heavy... and that happens. Seriously, JG simply is not good enough to run a pass heavy offense. His decision making lets him down too often.
ReplyDeleteWell, play calling does assume competent QB play. Can't design a game plan based on avoiding silly mistakes.
DeleteMood, I get why you believe taking advanatge of a team trying to stop the run is to switch to passing. Why Shanahan believes this. It 100% makes sense.
DeleteBut the problem is you need to have a QB that is able to lead such an offense. We've seen time and again JG can't do it consistently. That is why it is a mistake to try, and a mistake to go away from the run.
If Kyle has to assume that his QB can't complete passes to the middle of the field (the staple area for throwing in Kyle's scheme) without throwing interceptions, then he has two choices:
Delete1. Go 3 and out by running the ball against a D that will stack 8-9 in the box. Then lose TOP by 1 to 2, tire the defense and lose by 2-3 scores.
2. Switch QBs.
3. Keep the defense honest defending the run, but also mix in passes on 1st and 2nd down here and there, and trust JG to convert 3rd downs.
DeleteI'm not saying they need to go 2:1 run vs pass. But they can't go pass heavy.
Well, then you and are in agreement about passing the ball to allow runs to be successful.
DeleteYes. That hasn't been something I have argued against.
DeleteBut what is abundantly clear is that while teams are showing 8-9 in the box they are also trying to egg Shanahan into passing. They are playing the passing game aggressively too. The 49ers need to commit to the run to make teams not only bring extra men in the box, but also loosen up passing opportunities and take the pressure off JG to be making good decisions consistently.
This is where we disagree. We will discuss later.
DeleteBad Jimmy in full flow :(
ReplyDeleteKyle's PISSED, and he should be!
ReplyDeleteBut we knew this version of Jimmy was ready to rear his head at anytime, because he's an INCONSISTENT QB by nature! Has been his entire 49ers career, and that's if he can even stay healthy!
DeletePlay calling sucks too
DeleteYah, and I think the biggest problem today is the Seattle doesn't view Jimmy as a threat to beat them deep, therefore they just cram stack the box on every down!
DeleteOutcoached by the 2021 version of Pete Carrol? OUCH!
Delete4 straight for Pete over Kyle, who just can't find a way to get the Ferrari out of the garage!
Niners beating themselves in all three phases
ReplyDeleteSeriously, what was that play call? Good thing Mack's sweaty hands stopped that.
ReplyDeleteSMH
DeleteKittle wasn't even in, what the heck.
DeleteNow Mitchell is questionable.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many reasons why the Niners are losing this game...maybe too many to list.
ReplyDeleteI just don't understand why Trey can't run a few Wild cat / Zone read hybrid plays?
ReplyDeleteHow is Kyle a genius?
That's like calling someone who can't even get his Ferrari out of the garage - Mario Andretti
Aiyuk... man, have to have that.
ReplyDeleteAiyuk seems to commits mistakes when he tries hard.
ReplyDeleteHate to say it but this game is over
ReplyDeleteNiners still gasping -- thanks to Kittle.
ReplyDeleteToo bad
ReplyDeleteI CALL IT THE BIG TEASE! The GIF sums up my feels of the 9ers (as Charlie Brown), with JG (as Lucy) the 9ers QB!
ReplyDeleteJust when you begin to believe, the ball is pulled away!
https://giphy.com/gifs/football-prank-Ou18ZgE49Fss0
ReplyDelete96 yards. 3 short. Typical Niners Hawks outcome.
ReplyDeleteIt’s too bad Niners couldn’t put the final nail in the Seahawks coffin. But likely Wilson is gone from Seattle next season. Niners will have a new QB, the rivalry gets restarted from scratch.
BTW, Sherfield was mugged on that 3rd and goal. /Zimmer
ReplyDeleteSquawks sweep Niners two seasons in a row. We just can't beat a RW quarterbacked team. Get him out of the division already.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching this game, I understand why Sherfield was not playing.
ReplyDeleteKyle's mismanagement of the CB's is probably Kyle's biggest sin, but his inability to move on from a QB whom he knew wasn't quite good enough, was the final straw that broke the 49ers back in 2021!
ReplyDeleteIncluding Trey Lance, this is the most talented .500 team I've ever seen.
ReplyDelete
