9ers have not allowed a sack in first two games. It's the first time since November 2018 that they've gone back-to-back games without yielding a sack and the first time that the team has allowed no sacks in the first 2 weeks of the season since sacks became an official statistic in 1982, according to Elias Sports.

ReplyDeleteBrowns (20%), Eagles (30%), Broncos (32%), Texans (33%), Packers (33%).
Don't know how long Robinson or Thompson will be out but with high ankle sprains it is likely 6 weeks or more. So the 49ers have now lost 6 players in the first 2 weeks. If things don't change real quick they are headed for a repeat of last year. I believe that if this team was 100% healthy and would make a trade for a DT they would be SB bound. After 10 out of the last 12 years being a top 10 injured team I don't have a lot of confidence in the area of health.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing about trading for a DL is that there is never a guarantee that the player will deliver at a high or even consistent level. The 49ers paid Javon Hargrave $84m for what? I will roll with Osa and Halton as they get acclimated to Morris' scheme and in Halton' case gain more experience.
DeleteSeems like everyone is really happy with that performance, which I get given the score and result. But imo that wasn't a great overall team performance, it was a great performance by 1 player and 1 coach.
ReplyDeleteThis win was all about Purdy and Shanahan. They were both on a completely other level to everyone else on the field. There were other good players and performances, sure, but those two dominated the game.
I thought both the DL and OL were only ok. 0 sacks of Purdy looks great, but Purdy and Shanahan had a lot to do with that. Run blocking was a disappointment, right side didn't get much going all day. DL finished with a good rush average against, but got moved again through the middle too much.
Against a better team that didn't shoot themselves in the foot so often it might have been a bit suspenseful.
