As of now I see the draft going IOL/Edge in rounds 1 and 2. In the 4th round WR/TE/S and a second WR
ReplyDeleteMy guess right now is WR/Edge round 1 and 2, then OL, DT, DB, TE round 4.
DeleteThe 49ers will host Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr for a 30 visit, per Fowler.
ReplyDeleteTo revisit Nate Hobbs, apparently nickle back is his best position, so, take this for what it's worth, but it makes some sense, Grant suggests Morris is playing with moving Stout to free safety and making Hobbs the NB.
ReplyDeleteMorris has options and he'll utilize them all to get the results he needs.
DeleteI wouldn't listen to what Grant has to say. Stout isn't moving to safety.
DeleteHobbs will replace Pinnock and/ or Lucas, and one of he or Brown will likely be used in that big nickel/ pseudo LB role.
Multiplicity baby is where it's at.
ReplyDelete49ers bring back stud special teamer Luke Gifford!
ReplyDeleteI was disappointed on how Seattle pulled'up on the 49ers. I feel better with their FA signings and now look forward to the draft. There are two orders of business that need finalizing. Trent and Aiyuk. Hopefully, resolution is coming soon.
DeleteKentucky C Jager Burton continues to grow on me through this process. Reportedly hit a 4.45 short shuttle according to some at his pro day. π
ReplyDeleteHaven't watched him, but that's the type of athleticism that will likely interest the 49ers.
DeleteJager Burton, Sam Hecht, Brian Parker II, Matt Gulbin, Logan Jones all could be had in that round 3-5 range. No excuse for not drafting one of these guys to develop behind Brendel.
DeleteI suspect that's the way they'll go.
DeleteThe 49ers will receive a $20.6M savings towards the 2026 cap due to insurance policies taken out to protect against injuries, per Over The Cap.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers current cap space is at $27.1M prior to this adjustment being accounted for.
That helps. They are still trying to get deals and the looming TW contract. I hope they don’t have to push too much forward. I especially don’t like it when it’s with an older player.
DeleteIf Whitworth played at 40, I'm not worried about Trent Williams doing it. Don't forget he's likely got leftover snaps from when he took time off to defeat cancer too.
DeleteThis is what I was expecting. Bosa, Warner, Kittle and Purdy would all likely have insurance policies on their contracts, so was expecting a nice amount of cap credits for the time they missed.
DeleteThis insurance situation is intriguing. Is it correct that you buy insurance and the cost doesn’t affect the cap, but the payouts do affect the cap? Is so, what a deal.
DeleteThat's exactly it Felix. No salary cap cost for taking out an insurance policy, but the payout gets given as a salary cap credit in the next year.
DeleteThe exact amount of adjustments that the 49ers got back was $20,655,638, but they take away $979,200 for the offseason workout program, and whatever isn't used up gets added back to the teams salary cap, so the 49ers adjusted cap is $340,190,324 as of now.
ReplyDeleteNice. I expect they will look to try and keep around $20M in carry over for next year (and in season flexibility), so getting this cap credit is extremely useful.
DeleteSmart by the Ownership and FO to take out insurance policies.
DeleteThis is the kind of thing that Paraag Maraathe excels at.
**Breaking News**
ReplyDeleteAs expected, Nick Bosa got restructured. The 49ers converted $21.465 million of salary to a signing bonus. The move reduced his cap number for 2026 by $17.17 million. His cap number increased by $4.293 million in each future year of his contract.
So if my cap math is correct (and it seldom is) that would put their current cap space at some where around 40 mill. If thats right they should/could sign another major FA or make a trade for another very good player.
DeleteExpect a Trent Williams deal first and foremost.
DeleteMy understanding is they now have around $45M in cap space. Will probably add some more when they get the deal done with Trent.
DeleteSo yes, definitely space to add another good player in FA or via trade if they want to.
However, need to keep in mind future years too. They already have around $337M in cap liabilities for next year. That does include Aiyuk as if he was still a 49er, so his cap hit will end up being much less, but still, it's a big number with only 32 guys under contract (not counting Aiyuk).
So, unless they want to go through a second player cull in three years next year, I'd be a bit cautious splashing too much more money.
Micah Morris (6’5 346) Georgia
ReplyDelete+ Thick frame and heavy hands
+ Upper body strength
+ Versatility with snaps logged at both guard spots and left tackle

- Was a backup and spot starter prior to the 2025 season
- Handling inside counter moves
- Conditioning concerns
Draft projection: Day 3

ReplyDeleteFebechi Nwaiwu, Oklahoma: 430 snaps
Curtis Peagler, Missouri: 369
Kuao Peihopa, Hawaii: 358
Emmanuel Pregnon, Oregon: 336
Cameron Kinnie, UCF: 306

I hope Jauan re-signs with the Niners at their asking price. Picture passing downs and red zone plays with big targets like Evans, Kittle, and Jauan, plus Pearsall cutting through the defense and CMC moving all over the field. Even without Jauan, it’s still a dangerous passing attack. We still need to sort out the TW contract and add an edge rusher, but this is shaping up to be a really good team.
ReplyDeleteI'd be shocked if they resign JJ.
DeleteFebechi Nwaiwu (6’4 324) Oklahoma
ReplyDelete+ Has taken snaps at every spot on the line except for left tackle
+ Work ethic to go from a walk on at North Texas to a two-year starter at Oklahoma
+ 91.6 pass blocking grade grade in 2025 where he allowed just two pressures and zero sacks on the year
+ Stout anchor in pass protection
+ Quickness off the snap
+ Impressed at center during Shrine Bowl week
+Over 3,300 snaps played
- 59.4 run blocking grade
- Doesn’t get a ton of push in the run game
- Presumed to be an older player that is a fifth-year senior
- Gave up 4 sacks in 2024 (didn’t allow any in 2025)
Draft projection: Day 3
Ephesians Prysock (6’3 196) Washington
ReplyDelete+ Ideal size and length for an outside corner
+ Timing the arrival of the football
+ 9.90 relative athletic score
+ Awareness in zone coverage
+ Over 2,600 career snaps played
+ 82.3 run defense grade in 2025
+ 75.2 coverage grade in 2025
+ Physical in press-man at the line
+ Durability and reliability
- Limited ball production with just 2 career interceptions
- 7 penalties in 2025
- Inconsistent pursuit angles
- Needs to wrap up on tackles more
Draft projection: 4th round
Razor (or anyone), what are your thoughts on Keagen Trost?
ReplyDeleteHe's a guy the 49ers would likely have interest in with the experience and versatility.
DeleteTechnically sound in Pass Pro, short arms likely mean LG as a day 1 starter with that anchor he has to go along with the leg drive and hand usage in the run game. Looks like a 10-year starter at the position.
DeleteRank: Centers
ReplyDeleteSam Hecht
Connor Lew
Jake Slaughter
Jager Burton
Logan Jones
Still haven't watched Burton so N/R for me right now.
DeleteSlaughter
Hecht
Jones
Lew
Also think it's a really tight bunch of round 3/4 guys. Could easily have them in any order.
Delete49ers have signed P Corliss Waitman.
ReplyDeleteCorliss Waitman’s punting stats in 2025:
DeleteAverage: 45.5 (25th)
Net average: 41.7 (15th)
Inside the 20: 26 (10th)
Average return yards: 7.0 (8th)
Average punt hang time in 2025....
DeleteCorliss Waitman: 4.52 sec (#5)
Thomas Morstead: 4.14 sec (#26)
Likely a major contributing factor that Waitman's punts were, on average, taken back for much shorter returns (7 yards) than Morstead's (12.7 yards).
Jude Bowry (6’5 314) Boston College
ReplyDelete+ Patient and does not panic or get overaggressive
+ 9.37 relative athletic score
+ Strong and active hands
+ High character player
+ Natural kick slide
+ Has allowed only 2 career sacks
+ Smooth mover
+ Versatile with snaps at left and right tackle and projects to guard
- Struggled at the Senior Bowl
- Lacks ideal size for a tackle and is expected to kick inside
- Dealt with nagging injuries in 2025
- Under 1,400 career snaps
Draft projection: 3rd/4th round
Looking at the 49ers DL, I think they'll look to take 10 DL on the active roster in 2026, constructed as follows: 4 DTs, 4 Edges, 2 DT/DEs.
ReplyDeleteAs the roster currently stands, wuth Huff retiring I think only 7 of those spots are locked. 3 DTs (Osa, Collins, West), 2 edges (Bosa, Sam O), 2 DT/DEs (Mykel, White).
So 1 DT and 2 edges needed. Maybe they feel good about some of the PS guys from last year, but probably a risk relying on them to step up. And I'm not really seeing any FAs that I think are really worth going after. Maybe bring back Leonard Floyd for cheap if he's willing as a rotational guy.
Looking at that, I see only 2 guys you can rely on for pass rush. And one of them is coming back from an ACL.
Knowing the 49ers love to draft need early, I'm currently thinking edge almost has to be the pick at 27. And they might just double up later.
Edge all day long and likely the first time the regime drafts a DPR this high. Howell would seem the most likely candidate in that range.
DeleteYeah, there's likely to be a few options.
DeleteAnd I can see them going there again in the 4th.
Howell and Crawford in the 4th works for me.
DeleteJaishawn Barham in the 4th would suit me.
DeleteHe's nice too.
DeleteLouisiana 3t Kaleb Proctor is my favorite small school prospect in this class.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else like Carver Willis as another late day 3 OT/OG?
ReplyDeleteKobe Baynes is another one I like day 3.
ReplyDeleteColton McKivitz was PFFs 4th best 2025 run blocking T (90.4) and the 49ers most improved player - barely anyone noticed tho.
ReplyDeleteHe also has 13 penalties in 3988 snaps for the best career penalty/snap ratio (3.2%) among 49er starters including Trent Williams.
Guy Haberman is hearing that the 49ers are planning to hold onto Brandon Aiyuk because there’s belief that they can get a 7th round pick in return for him.
ReplyDeleteMaxx Crosby's Lyrics. I guess he is a part time rapper.
ReplyDelete"What can I say? The boy get paid brand new crib in the Bay. We done touched down in the Bay like Steph and Klay"
Clues?
Outside of consensus top 75 favorites so far:
ReplyDeleteNCB Treydan Stukes
Auburn EDGE Keyron Crawford
Michigan EDGE Jaishawn Barham
Arizona State LB Keyshaun Elliott
Interesting that Corliss Waitman is a Left footed Punter. Must be one of the strategic reasons why we went after him.
ReplyDeleteMartin Klein is very interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteA very good inline blocker, with athleticism who was underutilized as a receiver. He shows some upside who will at least be a good blocking TE.
Nate Boerkircher and Oscar Delp are my two favorite blocking TE's in this draft.
DeleteMissouri DT Chris McClellan (6-4, 313)
ReplyDeleteπ―6.6% missed tackle rate
π―6 sacks in 2025; 1,500+ career snaps
π―11 inch hands; 34 inch arms
π―Two years at Florida; Two at Missouri
π―Sack to pressure conversion rate: 23.8%
Oregon WR Malik Benson (5-11 1/2, 185) being #284 on the NFL Draft consensus board….I doubt it:
ReplyDeleteπ¦43 catches, 719 yards, 6 TD this season
π¦2.3% drop rate
π¦4.38 40, 10.44 100M, 21.38 200M
π¦Deep threat grabbed 10/15 targets 20+ yards
Alabama & FSU transfer
Zierlein:
DeleteBenson, formerly the No. 1 JUCO prospect, made his mark with Oregon in 2025 after less productive stints at Alabama (2023) and Florida State (2024). He combines electric, track-caliber speed with above-average ball skills to create a real deep threat on every snap. He needs to diversify his releases and his route-running won’t impress, but his speed forces open easy hitches/slants underneath. He has a plus catch radius and rare toughness for a speed demon. He’s unflinching working into the middle. Benson can turn slants and over routes into long scores against certain looks but isn’t a natural on manufactured touches. Shell coverages could limit his value, but his ability to create explosives is undeniable.
Dametrious Crownover (#78) Texas A&M

Draft projection: Early day three
Since 2019, the interior DL to run a sub 4.9, post a 33+ vertical, and have at least 15 TFLs their final 2 years of college are Ed Oliver, Milton Williams, Jalen Redmond, Braden Fiske, Ty Robinson, Kaleb Proctor, and Zane Durant.
