Takeaways from John Lynch’s presser:

 • Talks with Trent Williams camp have “intensified” over the past week

• He doesn’t believe the 49ers can afford free agent Joey Bosa • He is humbled that Mike Evans chose to sign with the 49ers for less money • George Kittle is progressing well and they are “hopeful” that he will be available for Week 1 • Despite adding Robert Jones, the LG spot is up for grabs and they’ll look at the draft for a possible guard as well • They hired an independent scientist to look into the electrical substation and he said it’s a big “nothing burger” • They added three more physical therapists to their training staff and are spending $9M to improve rehab and recovery facilities, particularly in hydro areas • Renardo Green trade rumors are false and trade talks with other teams never occurred • Nick Bosa (torn ACL) and Mykel Williams (ACL) are expected back for training camp at some capacity • Nick Martin was fully cleared from the concussion protocol right after the season

  1. Glad to hear they aren't going to overpay to bring Joey Bosa in. Once a cheap deal I don't mind adding him, but he's still looking to get paid like a starting DE he's not worth it.

    1. I could see them adding Bosa or Cam Jordan (on the cheap) if they are still unsigned in late June

  2. Enrique Cruz, OT, Kansas is an intriguing prospect. He's a good athlete at 6’5, 314 with moldable traits. Has experience at both left and right tackle and is at his best when he’s in space.

  3. Krueger said someone high up told him they were trading Pearsall and Green. Might be time to quit listening to that dude or start thinking for yourself before regurgitating such rubbish.

    1. I thought he was just speculating they would, not based on a source. Either way, it never made much sense.

    2. Yep, speculating on nonsense is a waste of time but whatever floats your boat.

The last time I called him out on such nonsense was when he was adamant that Willie Lampkin would be drafted, and I said no way in hell. He challenged me to bet and I accepted. After some pressure from witnessing audience members including Damon, he finally paid up and sent me a 49ers mini helmet.

  4. I like Krueg during the season as a reporter. The off-season is pretty much a free-for-all and throw of the dice for many football talking heads.

    1. Yea, I don't see Lombardi doing any of that. Same goes for Chapman and Ant.

    2. True, I like Lombardi but my only complaint on him is even the tiniest bit of news is “breaking news”

    3. The main problem I have with Lombardi is how he acts like his viewpoint is the only possible plausible viewpoint and treats anyone with an opposing view like they're an idiot.

    4. I'm ok with Lombardi inferencing that the former Inside the 49ers blog moderator (not named Hammer) is a hack.

  5. Most significant takeaway for me is that Nick Martin cleared concussion protocol right after the season.

Kinda scary moment there for the young man.

    1. You think he should give strong consideration to wearing a guardian? I do.

    2. Yes he should, at least all the way till preseason. If all goes according to plan, he will be on the 53 but not suit up on game day.

Fred, Dre, Gifford, Winters, Bethune and Martin are the 6 LBs I see making the final 53.

Garrett Wallow (with a vet min wink-wink deal to be called up on game day) ....and one among Jalen Graham/Rookie UDFA LB will be on PS.

This is what I expect....barring any major injuries or trades.

Apprenticeship under Fred and Dre will help Martin play the game the right way. Hope he soaks up everything watching the two legends and should take up Winters' place next season, once Winters leaves in Free agency and we get a comp-pick back for him.

    3. I felt that Bethune was the best LB after Fred went down. If Greenlaw can win the Starting job, I would be happy with Warner, Bethune, and Greenlaw.

  6. If Martin can stay healthy I see him having a big year. He could get 7 or 8 sacks in Morris's scheme.

  7. Smallish LBs seem to have a low football expectancy with the 49ers. I'd prefer to see Martin come off the bench in relief.

  8. KC Concepcion had a 66.7% contested catch rate at Texas A&M

    That’s significantly above:
    - Omar Cooper Jr (50%)
    - Jordyn Tyson (43.8%)
    - Elijah Sarratt (40%)
    - Chris Bell (50%)
    - Malachi Fields (47.%)
    - Chris Brazzell (41.2%)
