No real surprises here. Good info.
DeleteWhich two players from that list have the highest ceiling in your opinion?
DeleteProbably the top 2.
DeleteI'd go with Lawrence and Faulk.
DeleteHighest ceiling? Or highest room to grow?
DeleteRoom to grow.
DeleteOk, in terms of room to grow I agree with Lawrence and Faulk, and would add DDS (not on the list).
DeleteThe top 5 Edge players you listed have a good chance to be in that order.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a couple of mocks placing Faulk in the top 20 pick range.
to be *drafted* in that order.

Missed the stops for Howell - he had 21.
DeleteI can't stop dreaming about Vega Ioane next to Trent Williams and what that would look like. So beautiful....
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers are expected to be interested in Jaguars CB Montaric Brown if he’s not re-signed before free agency begins, per Fowler.
ReplyDeleteLowest allowed pressure rate, 2026 NFL Draft OCs:
ReplyDeleteElijah Fisher, UL Monroe: 0.68%
Logan Jones, Iowa: 0.93%
Jake Slaughter, Florida: 0.99%
Luke Petitbon, Florida State: 1.00%
Matt Gulbin, Michigan State: 1.23%
Gavin Gerhardt, Cincinnati: 1.74%
Connor Lew, Auburn: 1.75%
Tay Yanta, North Texas: 1.76%
Sam Hecht, Kansas State: 2.11%
Pat Coogan, Indiana: 2.13%
The 49ers are amongst 4 teams who have expressed serious interest in signing Tampa Bay WR Mike Evans, per NFLStroud.
ReplyDeleteI see Evans as an endzone threat and would complement Kittle in that regard.
DeleteOf the 3 free agent WR's the 9ers appear to be interested in, which one is the best fit? Alec Pierce, Romeo Doubs or Mike Evans?
ReplyDelete* Romeo Doubs: Played in Matt LaFleur’s system that shares the same basic system as Shanahan's. Viewed as an "archetypal" Shanahan wr because he wins with his release and possesses the stop-start quickness necessary for the 9ers' heavy reliance on timing routes.Averaged 2.3 yards of separation in 2025. Projected cost to sign: ~$16M/year ($48M–$49M total over 3–4 years).
* Alec Pierce: primarily a vertical "X" receiver, less proven in timing-based intermediate routes. Big play specialist, Averaged 2.1 yards of separation in 2025. 47 rec, 1,003 yards, 6 TDs (led NFL with 21.3 YPC).
Projected cost to sign: ~$27M/year ($108M total over 4 years).
* Mike Evans: At 32 Y/O, he Provides elite, veteran red-zone presence,
and offers the highest short-term ceiling of the three.
2025 season: 30 rec, 368 yds, 3 TD (8 games played, He'd provide the "X" receiver profile the 9ers have lacked, but his age and recent durability issues present significant risk.
Projected cost to sign: ~$13M–$18M APY (Short-term)
I’m taking both Evans and Doubs, and I’d probably still draft a wide receiver in the second or third round. I don’t really follow the draft, so I’m not sure where the strongest group of receivers is. I’m not familiar with the financial side either, but I think Razor mentioned Doubs would be overpaid for what he offers. Also, the TW affair could change everything.
Deleteunder
DeleteTW is definitely the 500 pound gorilla in the draft equation!
I've got no problem signing Doubs at $15m-$16m a year. He's fine as a #2 and fits the offense.
DeleteYea, the highest I'd go on Doubs is $18M, but $15M sounds much better, lol. I'd not go near $25M for Pierce.
DeleteNo way in hell I'm paying any of these WR's north of $20M when I could get Evans for 2 years at $15M APY.
ReplyDeleteGive me Evans and Nailor for a total of $22M APY together and draft one.
ReplyDeleteJalen Nailor: 27 y/o, (5'11" X 199 lbs). A former 6th-Rd pick. He developed into a reliable, efficient, secondary option that brings speed to stretch the field. He Played all 17 games in 2025, primarily as the 3rd WR behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. 29 receptions for 444 yards, 4 TD's and 15.3 yards per catch. Proven ability to play inside (slot) or outside.
Delete* Tends to have quiet stretches broken by sudden bursts of high production, rather than consistent weekly dominance.
Has yet to prove he can handle a high-volume WR1 or WR2 role over a full season, largely functioning as a 3rd/4th option.
* Expected to have significant interest in free agency, potentially averaging $12 - $15 Mil per year.
$8M is as high as I'd go on Nailor.
DeleteRazor
DeleteAgreed. Nailor's projected Market Value of $12 to $15 Mil is why I didn't list him...That and we already have Rickey Pearsall.
The 49ers are reportedly one of 5 teams to have called the Eagles regarding a trade for Jalen Carter, per Easton__Butler. Packers, Bears, Seahawks, and Raiders are the other 4.
ReplyDeleteThe last free agent DT the 9ers signed from the Eagles, Javon Hargrave, signed a 4-year, $84 million contract with the 9ers in March 2023, played 2 years and was released released on the first day of the 2025 league year. A significant amount of his remaining guaranteed money ($17.485 million dead cap) was deferred to 2026.
DeleteQuestion that has to be asked is why is he even available? He's been pretty good on the field, and since the crash pre-draft it's been a few minor things only that have been reported. Makes me think there are additional off field things that aren't widely known.
DeleteFewest total pressures allowed, 2026 NFL Draft OCs:
ReplyDeleteElijah Fisher, UL-Monroe: 2
Logan Jones, Iowa: 3
Luke Petitbon, Florida State: 4
Jake Slaughter, Florida: 4
Connor Lew, Auburn: 4
Matt Gulbin, Michigan State: 5
Gavin Gerhardt, Cincinnati: 7
Sam Hecht, Kansas State: 8
Tay Yanta, North Texas: 9
Pat Coogan, Indiana: 9
Except for possibly Lew. All other above mentioned could be day 2-3 picks. That's cool.
ReplyDeleteYep. I could see Lew going in Round 2 but at the latest top of Round 3. Should be able to get Gulbin and Jones on day 3. Slaughter likely Round 3.
DeleteZierlein passes on Coogan and Slaughter.
DeleteWord on the street is that Romeo Doubs to 49ers is a done deal. Anyone have more info on this?
ReplyDeleteNot that I'm aware of.
DeleteRams getting ready to pay McDuffie $31M APY.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the Rams are being pro-active with the intent on nullifying Njigba. Kudos to them (dogonit!).
ReplyDeleteLenoir does it for $18M.
DeletePoint being, the Rams are doing something to stay in competition with the Seahawks. I'm still waiting and hoping that the 49ers can do something to also keep them within striking distance. Let's see how FA plays out.
