  1. To see Evans take a deal for $14 million a year from the 49ers - 60 cents on the dollar from his last Bucs contract, before incentives - makes me think he wanted out and Tampa Bay wasn't going to be able to re-sign him. They could've matched or exceeded that without any heavy lifting. Brock Purdy checked the, Elite QB box and Shanahan checked the elite play caller box. Mike Evans is going to get fed in this offense!

  3. Roman Hemby, RB, Indiana is the UDFA RB I'd target. He's a one cut runner with speed and natural receiving skills.

    1. I like Hemby. But I'm not sure that he goes undrafted. I see him being drafted mid to late day 3.

  4. Are the 49ers going to make any FA signings on day 2 ? Trey Hendrickson, Jaquan Brisker, Rasheed Walker, J. Bosa, Cam Jordan. Are they done with their big signing? How about trades? I could see them trading a couple 4th round picks. I don't see them liking 4 different players within #127 and #139.

    1. I'm not entirely sure, but I read somewhere that they can only talk to five players during this time.

    2. I'm curious to see what they do at DT. They clearly wanted Franklin-Myers, so see a need for an upgrade with a penetrating type DT. Options are pretty slim in FA though.

    3. If they make any signings at all I think it will be one of the 3 DEs I listed. Does anyone else think they will trade a couple of 4th round picks?

    4. Yes I think they'll trade at least one of those 4ths as well Coach. Could be for anything though - package to move up, to move back, or for a player.

  5. I think it's safe to say Shanahan felt he needed an X WR after attempting to trade up for TMac. Mike Evans was my #1 F/A target and Shanahan has the best X WR in the league.

    1. They've added more blue chip talent, so I'm happy.

Now just need to start finding some young blue chippers as well.

    2. What type of WR do you think he's going to draft? Gotta be an X right?

      Delete
    3. I think they can go whichever direction they want. Evans will take the bulk of X reps, so not a lot of room for another X to see the field a lot unless they have some versatility. But no harm planning ahead. But I think a guy that can play all 3 would be more useful in 2026. I think Boston has that versatility, as do Cooper and Bernard.

I think it does mean they don't need to go WR at 27 now. Still could, but don't have to.

    4. Jeff Caldwell, WR, Cincinnati is an X they could target day 3.

  6. Mike Evans - good stop gap signing if he stays healthy... likely a1 year deal. He should be a good pairing with Ricky. Solid signing... not amazing but these are the type of moves that make you a solid team. Does this make KC Concepcion/Germie Bernard type receiver more likely? I would expect so.

    1. Cole Strange to compete at LG might be within their budget.
Arnold Ebiketie is another edge budget player they could look at.

  8. Direct Communication: As of 2026, teams can have one direct phone/video call with up to five potential unrestricted free agents during the negotiating window. The calls can last for no more than one hour and their agent has to be present.

  9. "What happened yesterday with Mike Evans is big," Rice said. "I'm serious now. He's the threat that opposing teams are gonna have to pay attention to... I'm really fired up right now!"
    Jerry Rice,

Being endorsed by Mr. Jerry Rice, works for me.

  10. Now, it's time for a mutual agreement with Trent Williams.
Question, can the FO offer a pro-rated guaranteed money agreement to satisfy TW?

    1. This Trent deal is interesting. It looks like he wants top dollar as usual and is willing to hold maybe thru training camp. This is going to be the situation with him each year from now on. At some point the Niners will say enough is enough. Will it be this year?

"Trent Williams and the 49ers have been discussing a new deal..

They aren't shopping him and he's not expected to be traded...

      I told you so!

    3. Maybe not this year, but it’s coming soon.

    4. My one thought on the 49ers/TW situation is, who will replace Trent if by any outside chance of him walking? Not only is he a top 10 OL player in the league, but the best OLman for the 49ers. I'm hoping the FO can back-end some pro-rated money as part of a new contract agreement.

Razor knows this more than I do, but I read that TW does not have a guaranteed contact.

    5. It's all about threading a needle where they have to get this years cap hit down about $10M as I understand it. They'll figure it out.

      Delete
    6. Hopefully, but I’m not willing to concede that they will get it done.

    7. I guarantee they get it done.

RE TW Trade Possibility: According to reports from Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the 49ers are "open to trading" Williams if they cannot resolve the contract impasse.
"Shopping" vs. "Listening": While some reports suggest they are open to moving him, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the 49ers are not actively shopping him and he is not expected to be traded....
MY OPINION: The current situation appears to be a negotiation tactic where the 9ers are letting Williams, who is 37, seek a new deal elsewhere while they still hope to retain him at a more favorable cap number.

  12. WR Mike Evans has 27 TD catches on tight window throws over the past 10 seasons, six more than the next closest player (Davante Adams), per Next Gen Stats.

  13. Mike Evans has played in 89.3% of games in his 12 year career.

Romeo Doubs has played in 86.7% of games in his 4 year career.

    1. He must have failed his physical

    2. This opens areally fascinating window of opportunity. Raiders have been making signings based on the assumption his salary is off the books. Will they now have to cancel some of those agreements? Or perhaps they will be open to a cut price trade to get Crosby off the books. Fascinating

      Delete
    3. The cursed raiders may have backed themselves against the wall on this move. But, then again, it's the raiders. Mark Davis would do well to find a buyer. Perhaps Brady could go in with some big rollers.

      Delete
    4. Scooter,
I was thinking the same exact thing about all of the FA signings the Raiders have made. As to the Raiders trading Crosby, I think that will depend on why he failed his physical

      Delete
    5. AES, Davis is obviously not qualified to run a professional football team. In so many ways it’s apparently not professional. He should sell or hire a qualified president to run the organization without interference from Davis, if that’s even possible.

    6. Crosby didn’t pass his physical, so why would he be able to pass any team’s physical? Did the Ravens get cold feet?

Nepotism does not work in every family. Markie Mark is the poster child that validates this.

  18. I keep waiting to hear anything about Aiyuk but just crickets so far. I suspect he may not be interested in playing anymore.

  19. Doubt that the 49ers can ever trust him even if he wants to stay. Aiyuk may have damaged his chances of playing anywhere.
