Pads Are On

Dallis getting his Flowers and has a chance to make the roster if he can keep stacking practices like this!

  1. Upton looked Stout in the box against Guerendo making the tackle. PBU against Pearsall from Purdy.

  2. Dee Winters🔥
Crumples Guerendo with a shoulder shout.

  3. CJ West with 5 wins. Violent hands, explosive get-off.

  4. Great to hear so many rookies looking good.

  5. Heartening to hear so many positive reports from the 1st padded practice. Hearing DL is abusing the OL!

Rob Lowder reporting that out of 36 reps, DL won 27. At the very least, we should be back to an above average D.

    1. Top 10 defense and top 5 rushing offense suits me just fine.

  6. That's a good recipe for a playoff run in 2025. I'm looking for a reverse of last seasons record from 6-11 to 11-6.

  7. First padded practice but looks like Williams and West would be your inside Nascar package with Bosa and Huff outside.

  8. DL Size Differential:

    '24 avg: 6'2" 3/4 & 279 pounds, 32" arms
    '25 avg: 6'4" 3/4 & 290 pounds, 33.5" arms

  9. Is the D line just that good or is the O line just that bad?

    1. I think they may have hit on Williams, West and Collins. If so thats huge.

    2. Heh, Coach, exactly what I was wondering. Hopefully the former.

    3. I Certainly hope so. If 2 are just solid starters and 1 is special this will be a special draft.

  10. I believe that after a few days of hitting, all the rust will wear off. By Thursday and Friday things will become more clear.

  11. AES I am looking forward to August 7th: We should have a better understanding for who the starters are after the joint practice with Denver.

  12. Agree, GEEP.
Though, I may have some mixed emotions seeing Greenlaw and Hufanga in a different uniform if they play. But that's the nature of the NFL.

  13. Niners have signed UFL DE Jaylon Allen, per RapSheet.

  14. Purdy goes downtown 50+ to Jordan Watkins in stride for a touchdown. His best deep throw in camp thus far.

  15. Niners restructured OL Spencer Burford’s Contract, per Over The Cap, giving him more Guaranteed Money 💵

  16. Nick Bosa vs. Colton McKivitz :

    - Bosa got McKivitz on ground with spin
    - McKivitz wins next rep
    - Bosa/McKivitz draw

McKivitz is poised to hit the open market and command $20M APY in '26.

  17. 49ers kicking competition scorecard:

    Jake Moody - 4-4
    Greg Joseph - 4-4

    Distances: 28, 36, 41 and 48 yards

If this continues I'd imagine they'd go with the kid knowing if he struggles, Joseph will be available.

  18. Shanahan wins 75% of their games (23-8) with CMC. Without, they’re 8-12. He's worth 4 points a game.🔥

    1. Interesting stat. Thanks very much for this and all the other ones you provide. Frankly this says as much about CMC as it does about Shanahan imho. I’ve come to believe that unfortunately Kyle might be more hype than substance. Don’t enjoy saying this.

  19. I admit that I'm interested in watching Trey Lance play tomorrow evening. He has had ample opportunities to prove himself worthy of being a QB in the NFL. And pulling for him to do just that.
Lance seems like a high character person and I wish him well.

  20. I think any potential talk of an extension for McKivitz before the season starts (not that there's been much) can be put to bed. He's talking about wanting to make the Pro Bowl this year (which is an awesome goal to set himself) but it also means he's banking on himself to have a great year and thereby earn a big contract.

    1. Yea, I doubt we ever invest big money in our RT or OG's under this regime.

      Delete
    2. LT and centre have definitely been their primary focus in terms of $ along the OL. Not been willing to go above mid-tier $ for RT or OG.

  21. The 49ers are signing RB Ameer Abdullah per Matt Zenitz.

You can add WR Andy Isabella, (from the UFL), to 9ers new signings

    2. Isabella was one of Scooters guys coming out if memory serves me.

      Yea, I think you're right?

      Kyle’s update, 10:31 a.m:
      * The 49ers officially announced the signing of Abdullah and Isabella. They also signed QB Carter Bradley and wide receiver Marquez Callaway. To make room for these moves, Equanimeous St. Brown was released, while OL Sebastian Gutierrez, wide receiver Malik Knowles, and safety Jaylen Mahoney were waived.
      * Some good news for the 49ers' offensive line, as Ben Bartch was activated off the Active/Non-Football Injury list. Bartch seems like the leader in the clubhouse for left gu

    4. Yep, Isabella was a guy I liked in the draft. He's been a disappointment.

      Delete
    5. Krueger was high on Gutierrez.

      Delete
    6. Are you sure your'e not thinking of Sebastian Valdez?

      Delete
    7. Valdez is still on the team, at least for now.

      Delete
    8. OldCoach, you're right. I stand corrected.

  22. Some analysts touted Isabella as the next Julian Edelman coming out of college. While I wish him luck, he definitely knows that the NFL is a different animal.

  23. Back at practice for the 49ers today:

    G Ben Bartch
    DE Mykel Williams
    WR Ricky Pearsall

  24. Word on the street is that Russell Gage has looked good in TC. After suffering a major injury a couple years ago, he is now looking healthy. After Neyor's big flash play catching a 50yrd pass, he has gone somewhat silent. This could be an opportunity for Gage to show-out.

  25. Demo out for 3 practices with hip injury.
Jordan James day to day with knee issues.

At this rate, we should do an exorcism for this TC.

    2. I'm most worried about JJ's update.

Getting serious CMC '24 vibes. Hope I'm wrong.

    3. If JJs injury is serious he will never get that big pay raise he wants. It just goes to show you why these players hold out/in.

      Delete
  26. The most interesting signing (for me) is that of QB Carter Bradley. It could be that the 49ers have lost confidence in Tanner Mordecai afterall.

    1. Could be a little nepotism. 49ers Asst. Head Coach Gus Bradley is his father.

      Delete
    2. Bradley seems like he's getting slept on as far as what he brings to the defensive table.

      Delete
    3. Gus Bradley getting good feedback from J'yir Brown. Also Flowers was at Colts, so definitely see his fingerprints on the secondary.

Need 4 QBs to get through 3 preason games considering the starters play only 1-2 series.

  27. Coach,
Good looking out. I didn't know the Bradley connection. Good point Mug.
