Week 17: San Francisco 49ers vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Good afternoon everyone and welcome to the live blog. Hope everyone had a great New Years Eve and aren't too hungover. I expect the 49ers to come out and dominate early with an attempt to get out to a big lead; the goal is to rest key players like, Bosa, Armstead, Mooney Ward, Trent Williams, CMC and George Kittle. The number 2 seeding is in play with the Eagles struggling against the Saints and the Vikings going up against a hot division rival in the Packers. I like the 49ers by at least 14 points today. Go Niners!

  1. Niners score lots early and rest players in the second half. Hoping for zero injuries.

  2. The death machine continues. Commanders going down to the Browns the week after playing the 49ers.

  3. The path to the 1 seed remains open.

    1. Back when the Niners were 3 and 4, the chance at the Number one seed seemed out of reach and yet in week 17 they still have a decent chance of getting it.

    2. I know the Eagles have been amazing this year and I know the injury to Hurts is a root cause for the two losses on a trot... but it kind of now feels like they need to win next week to right the ship before the playoffs.

      * One step at a time: Week 17, GB beats the Vikings,
9ers beat LV and move into second seed.

Hufanga has regressed and become a liability.

    2. He hasn't regressed. He's been like that all year. He makes lots of big plays but can also give up some.

    4. Mood, this game just highlights once again how reliant the defense is on the DL dominating. Not doing it today and backfield getting found out as they are used to not having to cover long and able to take chances.

    5. Spot on, Scooter. I can't be sure, but it also seems like Bosa is not being moved around enough via stunting or moving to the right side of the defensive line.

    1. I actually thought that was his worst game live. But came up with some big plays in the second half and showed poise once again under pressure.

If that is bad Purdy then he's fine.

    2. Realistically, it will get more difficult for Purdy as his tendencies are put on film. So I grade him relative to what I expected from him. I had expected him to play worse after Banks left due to the deteriorating pass pro.

Defenses will work on batting down his passes, taking away those rollouts and bootlegs and force him to throw weak passes under duress.
