Watson Is A Brown

Ari Meirov
The #Browns originally traded the pick that allowed the #Texans to draft Deshaun Watson. Now Watson is actually going to the #Browns. And he chose Cleveland. Absolutely wild.

How does this affect Jimmy G stock?

Deshaun Watson has decided he wants to play for the Cleveland Browns in a stunning change of events, per sources. Watson has informed the Houston Texans that he now is willing to waive the no-trade clause in his contract to be dealt to Cleveland.

  1. Wild! More details here...$230M gtd and multiple draft picks!

I think this is how it will play out:

    Falcons will keep Ryan.
Seattle will go with Drew Lock and will likely draft a QB as insurance.
Texans will go with Davis Mills.
Saints, Colts and Panthers will now bid for Jimmy G and Baker Mayfield.

Since Baker and Jimmy are both Rehabilitating, I think we have some leverage now.

    1. I don't see how the Colts could risk choosing Baker when clearly leadership was an issue at the position.

    2. Right...but knowing how Ballard operates, he is aware now that Browns don't have leverage and "have to" trade Baker. So he will do a lowball offer :) Partly bcoz he knows the 49ers are not gonna budge with their ask of 2 2nd round picks for Jimmy.

All speculation my friend...I have no clue what will actually transpire...like everyone else! :D

    3. Marcus Mariota to the Colts.

      Book it!

    4. Mariota? Ha! Ballard is gonna put his job on the line for a starter turned backup? Make no mistake about it, trading for Wentz was a mistake. He can't afford to make another.

    5. Here is the problem with Mariota for Colts....

With Jim Irsay running his mouth about Superbowls, Colts have to get a "proven" commodity to keep fans buying tickets. Plus being in division, Colts fans would have seen enough of Mariota. So I see only 2 veteran QBs who fit the "proven" commodity bill.

      1) Jimmy when healthy took his team to a Superbowl and NFC Championship.
      2) Baker when healthy took his team to a Divisional game (with a road playoff victory)

Colts have done neither and with the AFC the way it is, I will say Mariota is a downgrade from JimmyG/Baker/Wentz. Same with Jameis Winston.

    6. Ballard certainly isn't going to put his job on the line for another expensive, injury prone QB like Jimmy, that's for sure.

Mariota costs ZERO draft picks, and a lot less in salary than Jimmy, so yes, it's a much less risky move for Ballard. One thing he CAN'T do is afford to take a chance on another injury prone QB, and that's who Jimmy is ... THE most injury prone "starting QB" in the NDL

    7. Dude...you honestly think Mariota can take the Colts to the Playoffs? That is their bare minimum goal this year, based on how last season ended.

I think Jimmy or Baker can.

    8. I don't think either guy can win a Super Bowl, which makes them both "bridge" QB's.

    9. I think Mariota will end up in Seattle.

    10. And the thing is, it's not an apples to apples comparison. One guy is healthy, and a FA, the other guy is hurt (always hurt), costs a lot for 2022, and isn't a FA.

Can they make the postseason with a healthy Marriota, compared to an injured Garoppolo, and have more money to spend, and more draft picks to spend on shoring up their WR position among other positions, heck yes I'd sign Marriota over Garoppolo, and hope that you can catch lightning in a bottle, and be relatively healthy come next December.

I think most people around the NFL believe the odds of Jimmy staying healthy for an entire season, are slim to none, so what good is that?

      Delete
    11. You say a healthy Mariota. When was the last time Mariota started a season and finished it? 2018.

      Delete
    12. Correction. 2018 he played 13 games and it wasn't pretty. His best year, 2016 he played 15 games. So he's never played a 16 let alone a 17 game season.

      Delete
    13. Jimmy has missed 25 regular season games since the start of 2018.

Question: Which starting QB has been injured as much, or more, during that period?

      Answer: NONE!

      Delete
    14. I know you guys will never admit that Jimmy is a below average QB, but geesh, Razor, can we at least admit he's injury prone?

My gosh, facts are fact, bro.

      Delete
    15. And BTW, I hope we can also all agree that Matt Ryan is staying put in Atlanta. His dead cap number is enormous!

      Delete
    16. And I don't give a crap if you won't admit that Jimmy G is one of 32 starting caliber quarterbacks in the NFL. Mariota is not!

      Delete
  2. I think this was probably WCS - worst case scenario, for the San Francisco 49ERS! I could be wrong, but my friends and I all agreed that this would be the worst case scenario in regards to finding a team to take Jimmy G, his bum shoulder, and his $26M salary off of the Niners's hands. At this point, the 49ers might have to GIVE UP a draft pick in order to find a team willing to trade for Jimmy.

OH MY, this Garoppolo situation just got extremely interesting, and not in a favorable way for ShanaLynch. Then again, there's a sucker born everyday, so we'll see. I'm holding my breath, that's for sure!

I'm told the #Seahawks have discussed exploring acquiring Baker Mayfield at quarterback, per league sources.

    1. Razor, do we have to wait for the Baker Mayfield domino to fall now? lol.

    2. BTW, how many dominos are there in a game of dominos? lol

      Delete
    3. How much do you want to bet that Ballard does not intend to trade for Baker Mayfield?

      Delete
    4. Ballard doesn't want Baker. Baker is a diva, IMO.

However, Jimmy can't even start throwing a football until July, Razor, and even then there is no guarantee he'll be ready to play.

      Don't you think that's a big problem?

All things being equal, I agree that Jimmy is probably better than Mariota.

As for Baker, it's kind of a push, in poker terms. Jimmy is better in the locker room, Baker has a better arm. Jimmy can't throw until July at the earliest, while Baker can probably start throwing as soon as OTA's. Jimmy is under contract for $25.5M in 2022, Baker is under contract for $18.8M for 2022. Baker was the 1st overall pick, Jimmy was the 62nd pick.

      All these things matter.

    5. I just get a kick out of this domino analogy.

What does it say about Jimmy when EVERY OTHER possible domino has to fall before Jimmy is even in play?

      Delete
    6. I think Buckner has told Ballard how Jimmy came in and turned the franchise around. How his locker room leadership brought a winning culture to a downtrodden franchise wallowing in the NFL mire of dysfunction.

Ian Rapaport says the Colts and the 49ers have had talks over Jimmy Garoppolo, but also adds that there’s “nothing imminent” on that front.

    1. I just want Kyle to OFFICIALLY turn over the keys to Trey Lance. He's a good kid, and an amazing talent, IMO. That's all I am asking of Kyle. Come out and say it in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS, that TREY LANCE is now the unquestioned QB of the San Francisco 49ERS!

Does that really make me a bad guy?

      Delete
    2. Yah, I lost faith in Jimmy, at the same time a huge number of faithful lost faith in Jimmy, during the 2020 season. It seems that even Kyle had lost faith in Jimmy, so why is there such a deep divide among 49er Faithful? I just don't understand the love for Jimmy!

      Delete
    3. I don't hate the guy, in fact I think he's a good guy. But I want the 49ers to win a Super Bowl, and Jimmy isn't that guy! That's a fact!

    4. 30 posts 14 from one guy. Boring

  7. Its either Colts or Texans for Jimmy G.
    Makes to much sense.
