  1. Nice!

I also just did a mock with no trades and went Cashius Howell, Chase Bisontis, Sam Roush, Ja'Kobi Lane, Kaleb Proctor and Michael Taaffe.

  3. A lot of positive feedback from scouts on WR Denzel Boston's pro day yesterday. Looked really good with his route work and catching the ball.

    6.80 3-cone, 4.30 shuttle, 37 1/2 vert at 210 lbs will play just fine.

    1. Impressive agility scores for his size. Importantly, stacks up with what you see on film.

Surprised he didn't run a 40. Wouldn't have been a burning time, but would be surprised if he runs over 4.55s which would be plenty good for his size too.

  4. The San Francisco 49ers & Cleveland Browns will each host Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr for a 30 visit per Fowler.

  5. Watched a fair bit of Joshua Josephs today. Have to say, feel like he's probably not being talked enough about - kind of gets forgotten about despite being in most top 10 edges lists.

Most scouting reports on him talk about his long arms and decent explosiveness, both of which are definitely assets.

But two things that really stood out and surprised me the most was (a) the strength and feistiness at the point of attack - he's a much better edge setter than I expected, and (b) how active he is with his hands to try and get off blocks - he's not refined, but he is constantly working to get himself in the action.

The thing that was most worrying/ problematic was how often he just flat out missed the tackle. Got himself into position to make big plays pretty often but let a lot of them get away from him.

He isn't super bendy either, but the hand fighting helps make up for that to some degree.

    1. I think it might have to do with the snaps where he looks like he doesn't know what he's doing.😂

Bend and ankle flexion is pretty high on my list of a DPR.

    2. I'm in the camp that they should focus on the best available pass rusher first. They don't need to good at setting an edge but we need someone teams are terrified of on obvious passing downs.
If their isn't an obvious best available, I'd probably go with an OT that can moonlight at guard for a year or 2.
That means the OT can't struggle against power.
In the second depending on how the draft falls. It could be wr, edge, db, or lb.
TE and OT are less likely here for me...do to the falloff.

  6. Good start for Oscar Delp at the UGA pro day. 38.5 vert and 10' broad.

    1. 4.48 in the forty and as someone on hand said, "This is a better workout than Brock Bowers"....

I figured Delp would end up being the most athletic TE in this class.

    2. “(UGA TE) Oscar Delp (6-5, 245) played ENTIRE season w/a hairline fracture in his foot…accidentally found on a routine x-ray. Wants to compete (at NFL Combine), but won’t be allowed”

*Proceeds to run 4.48 at Georgia Pro Day*

  7. Salary Cap update, the 49ers, before the Hobbs, Gifford, Waitman, & Kirk deals, $39,603,561 under their adjusted salary cap, it's very possible that those 4 don't count any more than $8M-$10M, so potentially as much as $31.6M-$29.6M in cap room leftover. Once the Trent Williams deal is done and the Aiyuk adjustments they should have ample carryover for next year.

    1. Don't forget only top 51 are counted currently. So when you add those in, you also take around $4M off as a result of four guys being pushed below the top 51.

  9. Ole Miss SAF Kapena Gushiken (6’0”, 191):

    40: 4.35 (T-4th among SAF’s in Indy)
    Vert: 41” (T-2nd)
    Broad: 11’ (1st)

A Washington St transfer and native of Pukalani, Hawaii. Day 3 interest should be strong.

    Draft projection: 3rd/4th round

  11. Anyone else getting Charlie Woerner vibes from Sam Roush?

    Replies
    1. Absolutely. We've never replaced Woerner's blocking.

    2. Is that good?
He looks like a better blocker with better hands... Just not sure if he's as smooth of a mover.
Not sure on your true opinion of him.

    3. Good blocking TE but average receiver.

  12. Puni finished his 2nd pro season in 2025 allowing 1 Sack and 1 QB Hit across 1119 Offensive Snaps played per PFF.

  13. Puni is a stalwart on the Oline. I expect the 49ers to draft another Olineman likely on day 3. Hopefully, the 49ers scouts have uncovered some off the radar diamonds.

    1. I would like to see them draft a edge and o lineman in rounds 1 and 2. WR, LB TE and S in round 4. Although I don't see them using all 4 4th round picks. I see them trading back with at least 1 pick for a 5th and 6th.

    2. AES/Old Coach,

Do you think we will draft an LB? I don't think so.... the numbers don't add up.

We have the following 10 LBs on the yet to be developed 90 man roster.

      Fred Warner
      Dre Greenlaw
      Dee Winters
      Tatum Bethune
      Luke Gifford
      Nick Martin
      Garett Wallow
      Jalen Graham
      Milo Eifler
      Andrew Farmer II

That is 10 LBs already in 90 man roster. 8 of those, have played significant snaps for us and we usually have 6 LBs on the roster and 1 LB on the PS.

Unless someone like Dee Winters or Bethune gets traded, I don't see us drafting an LB. Getting another UDFA....sure, but not a draft pick.

      Delete
    3. Mug,
I believe that at some point the 49ers will need to draft a LB because of their philosophy of drafting smaller players.
Dee Winters was washed out of many plays when blocked. Bethune was injured and Martin suffered concussions.
For me, the jury is still out

      Delete
    4. ... the jury is still out on Greenlaw.

  14. Coach, unless a team wants to give up a late 3rd rd pick for the 49ers 2 4th rd picks and a 2027, 6 rd pick. I'd prefer that the 49ers keep all their 4th rd draft picks. 4 picks in the 4th rd should still garner some good talent.

    1. I just don't see them liking 4 players in a 10 pick span. They will be lucky to have 3 players graded out at those spots at the positions they are looking at.

  15. Tanner Koziol (6’6 247) Houston TE

    + 9.72 relative athletic score
+ Fantastic in contested catch situations with his height and length (74.1% in 2025)
+ Red zone target and production with 24 career receiving touchdowns
+ 2.25 yards per route ran in 2025
    + Only a 2.6% drop rate in 2025
+ Ability to high point the football and excellent vertical leaping ability
    + Deceptive route runner
    + Over 2,400 snaps played

    - Struggles as a blocker and lacks the strength, leverage, and ability to sustain blocks
    - Lower level of competition prior to 2025 while at Ball State
    - Doesn’t force many missed tackles after the catch
    - Needs to add weight to his frame

    Draft projection: 4th round

  16. What Panthers are paying LT Rasheed Walker:

"Walker’s pact carries a base value of $4MM, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reports. $3.22MM is guaranteed, including a $2MM signing bonus. Per-game active roster bonuses and incentives will help Walker approach the $10MM maximum he can earn in 2026."

  17. The 49ers will host Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion for a Top-30 visit, per Fowler.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I touted Concepcion a couple of times for the 49ers. But the signing of Evans has cooled me on that. I've also touted Cashius Howell. If he's there at 27, I hope that the 49ers pounce.

      Delete
    2. The 49ers drafted two of their top‑30 visits last year:
      EDGE Mykel Williams
      WR Jordan Watkins

      Delete
    3. So Cooper and Concepcion in on 30 visits. Maybe we shouldn't rule out WR at 27.

      Delete
    4. I wouldn't rule it out. Their 2nd rounder is right around where they took another DPR in Jackson

  18. Should have some news on TW. I think he has a roster bonus due tomorrow.

  20. Apparently John Lynch skipped Stanford's pro-day and went to Georgia's pro-day instead. Who was he scouting?

    Christen Miller - DT (or)
    Oscar Delp - TE

I would love for us to have Delp as the TE of the future.

    1. He's highly versatile. Can play as a 4t/5t through to 9t, as a stand up outside LB or as a stack LB. Rush the passer or drop into coverage. Really good mobility for his size. Nice length. Powerful.

Currently plays too upright, so needs some work getting and staying low. But like his ability to push through gaps with his strength and rip move.

    2. He'd be a good compliment to Howell.
