I have always felt the 49ers should have played more Man w Ward over the yrs....... and I feel the same w Lenoir. They're going to have to gamble somewhere to make up for the loss of Bosa as the better QB's are going to eventually pick you apart as they cannot hold up on the back end w/out pressure on the QB- like Baker did.
ReplyDeleteThe only reason I didn't yell at the TV when I saw that soft zone against Tampa was because I promised not to. A strength of the defense is the man-coverage skill of Green, Lenoir and supposedly Luter. So Yeh, blitz like crazy if we have to -- anything is better than being picked apart and not responding.
DeleteI don't want to be the first to say the sky is falling but here I go any way. I don't see how any team that has lost 2 future HOF players on the same side of the ball, has one of the worst O lines in football and their schedule has gone from weak to relatively mid can expect to make the playoffs. This week against Atlanta should tell the story for the rest of the season
ReplyDeleteTbf coach, you and I have both been saying since the offseason that making the pkayoffs this year would be an achievement. Just such a young and inexperienced squad around a small core of elite players. Any of those elite players get hurt then it was always going to be difficult.
DeleteGood news is they started the season well, which gives them a punchers chance if the team can stick together and fight hard.
They surprised me early on but these injuries are just killing them. I go into every game wondering who will we lose today? It takes a lot of the joy out of watching the game.
DeleteDefinitely feel snake bit atm.
DeleteJust keep the score close at the end of 4th qrtr and maybe Eddy P can kick the winning FG. This guy might turn out as one of the players that keep the 49ers in the playoffs picture.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's still a playoff team until they are mathematically eliminated.
