2026 San Francisco 49ers Schedule

That's a gauntlet after the Bye!

20 comments:

  1. Four of the last five games will be critical for this team: vs. Rams, at Chargers, at Chiefs, and vs. Eagles. The matchup against the Chargers comes on a Thursday night, just four days after facing the Rams.

    1. I'm guessing this schedule will require some 4D chess to navigate successfully.

  2. So, Tell me how the NFL "took care" of the 49ers after scheduling two international games in two different countries?

    a) The Rams get the extra day rest. They play the Monday night after Australia, while we play Sunday afternoon.
    b) We play NYG after John Harbaugh has had time to get his Defense right. Rams play them much earlier.
    c) We play the Chiefs after Mahomes is well and truly healed from his ACL and they are in full "playoff" form. Again Rams play them earlier.
    d) We play Chargers in Week 15 after Mike McD has had chance to cook with Herbert. Rams/Hawks play earlier.
    e) Finally, we play the Eagles with a much later in the year.
    f) Rams and Seahawks don't play each other until Week 16, so McVay can watch and learn on how Andy Reid/Ben Johnson address the 'Hawks D.

So how is the NFL "taking care" of us again. We have been screwed. :(

    1. Goodell doesn't like Shanahan. It'll take some real strategy to navigate this schedule for a playoff run while at the same time having enough left in the tank to make it all the way.

    2. Was listening to John Chapman this morning and it is even worse. We play

Seahawks with a 7 Day Rest advantage (they will be coming off a bye)
Rams with a 4 Day Rest Advantage (they will be coming off a thurs night game)
Eagles with a 4 Day Rest Advantage (again they will be coming off a thurs night game).

The only teams against whom we have the Rest advantage are the Raiders/Dolphins. Against we don't really need a rest advantage.

Anyway, I'm done venting. :) I will definitely reduce my expectations this season.

    3. I dont know enough about the games after thursday night games... It gives the bodies more time to recover true but the shorter weak could also cause more damage to the bodies meaning they need more time. It does give more prep time that is for certain.
That said Seattle and LA also have brutal schedules so its not like SF is getting a raw deal comparatively.

    1. True. If you wanted the smoke, this schedule gives them all they can handle.

    2. I agree UC. The greater the fight, the greater the victory. Let's go 2026!

  5. Tough challenge but the optimist in me says that now that we have a pass rush, a dynamite WR room, and a spell for CMC, we’ll get through this.

WR Grimes - $200K GTD($200K Base GTD, $190K signing bonus)
WR Pauling - $277,500 GTD($247,500 base GTD, $30K signing bonus)
TE Dinkins - $275K GTD($247,500 base GTD, $27,500 signing bonus)

  7. I've never a big fan of GTD money, unless it is for proven stars. Trent is the recent example of this.
Question, what stipulations are provided if any of these players don't make the team or suffer a major injury? Are contracts dismissed if the above takes place?

    1. That's not really the point of the GTD money for UDFAs. This is how you convince them to join in the understanding they'll likely be a PS candidate at roster cut down. They get paid their full contract this way at roster cut down.

The salaries we're talking about here are a little bit more than what they'd earn on a non-guaranteed contract on the PS for a full season.

The GTD contract offsets the PS contract, so you don't end up paying them double.

It's basically how you tell the player we at least expect to keep you on the PS this year.

    2. Thanks Scooter. That makes sense and it seems to satisfy both parties involved.

    3. I actually prefer spending money here.

Its a relatively cheap way to add depth to the roster and potentially add a diamond in the rough. The odds are long for the later but it happens enough to make it worth while for the investment.

    1. AES,
If a player is injured on the job the team must pay them until the player is able to play again. Sometimes teams negotiate injury settlements. Players are just like you and I when it comes to injuries. If you were injured on the job your employer couldn't just fire/lay you off.

  9. IMO if the Niners are to reach the Super Bowl this year the defense will have to be a top 5 defense.
