Safety and TE for mine appear to be the positions most open for an UDFA to stick on the 53.
ReplyDeleteBut to be different, I am going to say Kamara. Going to be hard for the three DL UDFAs to make the 53, but I see an opportunity for one of them, probably at edge.
49ers like to keep at least 10 DL, and I think there are 9 locks. Osa, Collins, West and Halton at DT, Williams and White at DT/DE, Bosa, Height, Sam O at edge.
Can Kamara beat out Sample? Or do they consider Williams and White to be more true edge guys, and keep another DT?
I've got a hunch Pauling beats out Cowing for PR.

ReplyDeleteI've seen a few people on X saying the Black pick is a sign of how this team doesn't learn from past mistakes (i.e., taking a RB high, above consensus rank).
ReplyDeleteI get the concern about drafting a RB this high that most people thought would go later. But to me, this, as well as the James pick last year, are signs they have learned. This isn't a Sermon, TDP, Guerendo type big and fast in a straight line RB. They are now looking at RBs that have skillsets more similar to the RBs they've had success with.
They sure got a shit ton of RBs in this camp. Hasta la bye bye Guerendo.

I would have liked to grab a TE but they went earlier than normal.
I didn't, would have been an interesting exercise though.
DeleteParker would have been my pick at 33 as well. But at 70, really not sure. Might have gone Trey Zuhn or Keiontae Scott. Which means at 90 I'd have gotten the other one anyway, way things panned out. 107 probably would have been Halton tbh. Would have gotten WR after that.

DeleteParker and Dunker were blue chip talent's. The others are good, but subjective imho. I say this, because in my 65 yrs of following football, big name college players coming into the league don't always make it. No doubt the list of these players that failed to make a real impact in the NFL is long.
