Greg Cosell on 49ers WR De'Zhaun Stribling: “I spoke to an offensive coach who has been in this league for 35 years and he likes Stribling more than Makai Lemon.” I'm guessing that coach was Andy Reid, what say you?
Bucky Brooks said a team in the AFC South was very interested in drafting De’Zhaun Stribling and says he wasn’t going to last far beyond pick 33 if the 49ers didn’t draft him.
What do you think, can he beat out Kirk for WR3?

I think he'll be on the field for certain packages, and otherwise part of the rotation. But I think the top 3 will be Evans, Pearsall and Kirk when everyone is healthy.
ReplyDeleteYou see him in the big slot while Evans and Pearsall create some space for him early on?
DeleteYep, that's where I see them using him. And some 2 WR sets where he is aligned close to the end of the line.
DeleteI would guess the eventual plan is for him to be the X but this year primarily big slot especially with his blocking.
DeleteThat said I'm more excited by his big play potential.
If the number 1 trait of a wide out is their blocking that player isn't even a number 2. If he can develop into yac monster or deep threat then you have a worthy pick. He doesn't have to be a number 1 but if he's a solid number 2 he was worthy of the pick.
Breer says the Titans would’ve considered 49ers rookie WR De'Zhaun Stribling at 34 if they didn’t take Carnell Tate at 4:
ReplyDelete“So let's say in an alternate reality, the Titans take, the Titans take Arvel Reese or Sonny Stiles if we're not Cardinal Tate, right? And let's say because of that, they don't trade up from whatever it was, 34 to 31, okay? Stribling would have been squarely and played for them at 34.
I've also talked to other teams that I think if I divulge what teams those were and who those coaches were, I think a lot of people would be like, whoa, like they really liked them too. So, like you learn those and I learned that stuff over like the couple of days before the draft.”
Some current 49ers WRs will get their walking papers. The question is who, and which one(s) currently qualify to be the first out the door?
ReplyDeleteI'd say Robinson is on the bubble for sure.
DeleteI think the WR who is the best punt and KO returner will have one spot unless Black can return punts and KOs.
DeleteYep, one of Robinson, Watkins or Cowing will be heading out. As Coach said, return ability will be s key attribute to making the roster. For that reason I think Cowing sticks, as I think he'll be the PR.
DeleteDRob likely odd man out as he doesn't provide much STs value.
Does Robinson have any trade value?
DeleteI wouldn't think so.
DeleteExcept for a big drop on a 40 yrd pass against Atlanta, I felt that he had a good year with the 49ers. He also had a great game against the Eagles in the playoffs.
DeleteI wouldn't be in a hurry to see him walk out the door, especially if Cowings and Watkins have a poor TC.
Cosell was also effusive about Black. Better runner than James, no question. That’s a quote. Was his third or fourth best RB.
ReplyDeleteIf Kaylon Black hits. He will be the only drafted RB in the Lynch/Shanahan regime to hopefully have a long term career as a 49er.
ReplyDeleteHis feet are close to immaculate.
DeleteHere's the link to the Greg Cosell interview, below. His comments about Black start at 9:40. Watch his face when he discusses Black's tape. He was in love with it.
DeleteBtw, he also thinks Cruz is good enough to become a starting right guard.

Cruz: My mistake. I meant to write starting right tackle.
DeleteBears, Rams, Jags, and most notably -- 49ers -- had the largest Deltas between their picks and where the Consensus Big Boards listed.
ReplyDeleteAll playoff teams in '25. 🤷🏼♂️
Khalil Dinkins: Natural pass catcher. Should give Tonges a run for his money. Video below.

Per RAanalytics, De'Zhaun Stribling recorded the 2nd-fastest time in college football during the past 2 seasons, clocking 22.3 miles per hour. No. 1 was Nyck Harbor this past season. He just beat out Stribling at 22.4 mph. Only 8 players have cracked 22 mph in the past 2 years.
ReplyDeleteAge of the 49ers draft picks at the end of their rookie contracts:
ReplyDelete- De’Zhaun Stribling: 27
- Kaelon Black: 28
- Romello Height: 28
- Grace Halton: 26
- Carver Willis: 28
- Ephesians Prysock: 27
- Jaden Dugger: 26
- Enrique Cruz Jr: 26
2 positions I don't think matter with age is RB and WR because I wouldn't plan on giving them 2nd contracts anyway
49ers may be starting a new trend. of course, most of these players need to contribute.
