To Trade Or Not To Trade
Is now the time? Who are you targeting and what are the costs? These are the questions. Let's hear your answers...

Nope, it's not a misprint. After trading up to the #3 pick from #12, the 49ers have put themselves in a position to select their franch...
NYGs need a WR. And the 49ers need Pass Rusher.
ReplyDeleteThis is just me, but Jennings and a 5th rd pick for Thibodeaux would work for me.
AES,
DeleteI think that trade would be a steal for the 49ers. For that reason I can't see NY going for it
Razor
ReplyDeleteI ask that same question yesterday.
* And the answer I got is, we all appear to agree with Scooter...
Only trade for a guy that can also help next year, or who's important in the development of the guys you'll be leaning on next year.
* Which leaves an open question. As a 5W - 3L team does JL just stand pat at the trading deadline and develop the players already on
the roster? TBD!
Make trades for players that will be around in 26 but only if the team we trade with will take picks from the 2027 draft. Using picks from 27 will cost the 49ers higher picks then if they used 26 picks. I feel very strongly that they need all of their 26 picks to complete/continue this rebuild. The 49ers are looking to sign Clelin Ferrell
ReplyDeleteThe 9ers have officially signed Andre Dillard to the practice squad. The former 1st Rd draft pick was with the team during training camp, but was injured. The corresponding move to make room for Dillard was to waive OT Brandon Parker, probably means Dillard is fully healthy.
ReplyDelete* Here's a list of players the Niners worked out on Tuesday:
Andrew Farmer
Clelin Ferrell
Kingsley Jonathan
Casey Toohill
according to multiple reports, the San Francisco 49ers have acquired defensive end Keion White from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick. As part of the deal, the 49ers also receive a 2026 seventh-round selection.
ReplyDeleteThe cost is insignificant.
DeleteBingo
DeleteNice value pick up.
DeleteHe's another DE/DT hybrid type they like.

DeleteInstant grade: Patriots trade Keion White to 49ers
Brian Hines: After being a healthy scratch Sunday, the writing was on the wall for Keion White in New England. White often flashed as an interior rusher, but the additions of Milton Williams and several quality rotational players (Tonga, Durden, Farmer) led to him moving to the edge where things never developed. | Grade: C
Pat Lane: You had no choice but to trade the massively disappointing White, but it’s hard to give the Patriots a passing grade when they’re getting almost nothing back in return. Hopefully, he can do better with a change of scenery, but he was essentially useless against the pass and the run in New England. | Grade: D
Matt St. Jean: Keion White flashed in New England, but he never figured out how to be an impact pass rusher from the edge or a decent run defender at any spot on the line. You hate to lose a player with his pedigree for that little of a return, but it’s a fair value for what he’s produced on the field. | Grade: C
A second-round pick by the Patriots in 2021, White’s career with the club ends with 38 in-game appearances and six total sacks.
This is the Omenihu trade all over again.
DeleteRazor, exactly what I was thinking.
DeleteThink he plays Sunday?
DeleteGiven the injuries, yes
DeleteI like the trade. White is signed for 2026 at slightly above Vet minimum and had 5 sacks last year.
ReplyDeleteHoping Kocurek and Saleh can make White productive like Huff.
YGM is definitely off next year with this signing and we will probably invest another 1st round pick on DL next year.
Agreed.
DeleteJordan Schultz reports that the team is signing Clelin Ferrell to the practice squad.
ReplyDeleteQuality depth player.
DeleteLooking like these position groups are the strongest in the '26 draft:
ReplyDelete• D-Line
• LB
• WR
Sometimes the best defense is a really good offense. KS and Saleh were just as bad at their jobs as the players were at their job. Total team beatdown.
ReplyDeleteThe 49ers simply were not ready to play last Sunday.
ReplyDeleteSure, the team is in flux due to injuries. But they came out against the Texans with lack of attitude and fire. They have to show that the stinker last Sunday was just a glitch and not a trend going forward.
ReplyDeleteNot sure how accurate Graziano's been but he put this out there:
Dan Graziano is confident that the 49ers are not done making trades despite trading for Keion White yesterday:
“I know they’ve been calling around about pass-rush help (they got some Tuesday with White), and they’ve been known to be active and creative at the deadline in past years. I’m feeling confident they’ll do something beyond what they’ve already done.”
Lombardi said pretty much the same thing
DeleteIf there is another trade I don't expect it to happen before Sunday's game.
DeleteI believe that there will be another trade soon and Jennings may be part of it.
DeleteThis graph shows just how insane the cost for injured players are for the 9er: $96,278,199 Mil
ReplyDeletehttps://overthecap.com/apy-on-injured-reserve
Ji'Ayir Brown probably won't see much playing time if the look on Saleh's face during last weeks game is any indication.
ReplyDeleteIf Aiyuk is off the team in 2026, that frees 30 million, so we don't have to avoid trading for star talent now because of their potential contract. If it just costs a second rounder, Why not, What better use for a second rounder? Gambling on a rookie draft pick?
ReplyDelete49ers waived rookie OL Drew Moss👀
ReplyDeleteThe 9ers waived Moss hoping to get him back through waivers and back to their PS. OL Ben Bartch, the starting L-OG, is set to return from injured reserve with his practice window opening Wed. OL Spencer Burford has versatility to play inside and outside is also back in practice after spending the 1st 8 weeks on IR. Their return makes Moss more expendable.
DeleteIt is being reported that the 7th round pick that the 49ers received in the White trade is conditional. If White is active for 7 or more games the pick goes back to the Pats
