  2. As 9er fans, we all agree the team needs to draft at least one OT in the 2026 draft, maybe two....The 2026 draft class is considered strong in OT talent, with several high-upside prospects available.
    * Keep an eye on Xavier Chaplin, OT Auburn: He's 6' 7" X 338 pounds
    and is projected to be a late 1st Rd draft pick.
    * Also, Isaiah World, OT Oregon: He's 6' 8" X 312 pounds and is
    projected to be a mid to late 2nd Rd draft pick.
    The 9ers should also draft a Center. Connor Lew, Center Auburn
    He's 6' 3" X 302 pounds and is projected to be a 3rd Rd draft pick.
    Elite pass protection technician, showcases phenomenal hand placement and reset ability. Surrendered 1 sack and 9 pressures across 442 pass-blocking snaps as a sophomore, putting him among the elite tier of SEC centers.
    Moves like a pulling guard in space, exceptional lateral quickness and balance – gets to 2nd level with ease and sticks on LBs without overextending his base. Good fits for KS ZBS.

    1. I really hope this class provides a high level Center that SF will draft.

      I'm still pissed that they passed on Creed Humphrey, I think he would have made this Oline more balanced in terms of allowing them to have more power in the run game and be better in pass pro. This same line with him could be close to a top 5 line in the league.

    3. Shoup: "I really hope this class provides a high level Center that SF will draft."
      The top Centers in the NFL 2026 draft:
      * Jake Slaughter, Center Florida: 6' 5" X 308. Projected to
      be a 2026 mid 1sr Rd draft pick. His pass blocking grade, an elite 83.9 in 2024. His 2024 run blocking improved to a 79.0
      * He possesses surgical pass protection technique with exceptional core strength to anchor against power rushers, stonewalling even the SEC's most disruptive interior defenders while allowing just one sack in 800 snaps. Fits KS ZBS.
      * I could be wrong, but I don't see the 9ers drafting a Center with their first Rd 2026 draft pick.

      * Iapani Laloulu, Center Oregon: 6' 2" X 325, 40 = 5.3s
      Only allowed zero sacks and ten total pressures across 500 pass-blocking snaps. Has versatility with game experience at center and both guard positions.
      * Run blocking is solid, doesn't match his elite pass protection.
      Still developing as a puller in space. misses blocks against second-level defenders. Is a better fit at power blocking then
      KS ZBS. Projected as late 2nd round to early 3rd Rd draft pick

      * Connor Lew, Center Auburn: 6'3" X 302. 40 = 5.0s
      Elite pass protection with phenomenal hand placement and reset ability. Surrendered just one sack and nine pressures across 442 pass-blocking snaps as a sophomore.
      Moves like a pulling guard in space with exceptional lateral quickness and balance. Gets to 2nd level with ease and can stick on linebackers without overextending his base!
      Plays with controlled aggression and nasty finishing mentality drives defenders into the turf and looks to pile drive when he senses weakness, showing some serious dog in him at the point of attack.
      Exceptional leverage fighter who consistently gets under taller defenders' pads – uses natural center-of-gravity advantage to win crucial battles against massive SEC interior linemen.
      Fits KS ZBS, Projected as a late 2nd Rd to early 3rd Rd 2026 draft pick. 9ers may have to trade up into 2nd round to draft him.

      A late 6th round sleeper the 9ers could draft and develop:
      Bryant Foster, Center Kansas: 6' 5" X 330. 40 = 4.95s
      * Exceptional size and mass for the center position, Made Bruce Feldman's Freak's List - ranked #51. bench-press more than 400 pounds in high school and has only gotten stronger.
      Foster has concentrated on becoming an elite shot putter, not
      on football. He does have a personal record of 64' 8.75" shot put, indicating explosive power and coordination that translates to football, but he is raw and will need time to develop.
      Foster's development in translating his raw power and athleticism into consistent on-field dominminance will be crucial for his NFL transition. If he can refine his technique and footwork to match his physical tools, he could become not just a solid player, but a potential excellent center. His high football IQ, experience, and freakish athleticism give him a higher ceiling than initially projected, making him an intriguing prospect for teams looking for a difference-maker at the center position.

    4. One thing I have learned over the years is not to get too caught up with pre-season prospect rankings. Chances are some of these guys will disappoint this season, some won't declare, and other guys will emerge.

      While I agree there will be changes made to 2026 NFL draft prospects, as you have stated. I'm not so sure that having a list of said prospects constitutes "getting too caught up"?

      Delete
    6. Please don't take everything I say personally GEEP. I was just stating that I've learned not to get too caught up with pre-season ratings. No problem with anyone listing out guys to look out for. I just won't be paying much attention to the scouting reports on individuals or the overall expected strength of a class at this early stage.

      Sorry but it was not meant to be personal. I happen to follow college football and have a list of players I think may fit the
      9ers system. And as I stated, I don't think that is getting too
      caught up? Just my opinion, nothing more.....
      Maybe the problem is, we both speak our minds and that can
      be mistaken as being personal, when it's not meant to be?

    8. 👍 I must have misunderstood. I took your reply as defending providing a list of prospects, for which there was no need to defend.

  14. Arik Armstead was asked how much of an impact will Robert Saleh have on the 49ers defense:

    “I think he has a tremendous impact. I love Saleh… I look back at the 2020 season. We had a whole bunch of injuries and with Saleh’s leadership, even though it seemed like our whole team was hurt, we still finished with a top 5 defense. That was the standard that he set. It didn’t matter who was out there, the standard was set that we’re the best defense in the league and we still finished top 5 in defense regardless of who was out there. So, Saleh is going to bring a lot back to the Bay.”

  15. Arik Armstead on how Brock Purdy changed the 49ers offense once he became QB1:

    “I’ll tell you this. I talked to a lot of the receivers at the time, Aiyuk, Deebo. Like what’s the difference because I felt like in 2023 that was the best offense we’ve had during my entire tenure of that time. When I talked to the receivers the major difference on how Brock changed our team was the receivers felt like they could get the ball on any play. It switched from “OK I’m out of the progression, I’m just doing a run off route” to “I better run my best route regardless of the play because Purdy may just throw it to me and I feel like I’m better than the DB covering me and he gives me the opportunity” and the receivers love that and you can see how our offense took off that year.”

  16. Happy 4th of July, to America and to those who served and are serving today.

    My concern with Purdy going into 2025 is making the adjustment of no longer having Deebo and missing his best WR Aiyuk early in the season. Having a healthy CMC back will provide help. But, I want another Superbowl win. We'll find out if the 2025 49ers can deliver on that.

  23. Veteran 9er player who, IMO, is most likely to NOT make the 53 cut:
    * Jordan Elliott: 9ers signed him last offseason to a $7 million 2 year deal and he has struggled to justify the investment.
    The 49ers save $2.94 Mil against the cap, by moving on from him.
    * Kalia Davis, IMO, represents Elliott main competition. Davis has shown promise as a one-gapping three-technique in college, but his opportunities to have success with the 9ers have been limited due
    to his injury issues.

  24. Don't know how many 9er fans caught this, but it made my 4th.
    * Bosa took to social media and posted a picture of him sacking Cowboys QB Dak Prescott in the team's contentious game against Dallas last Oct. when the 9ers emerged victorious 30-24. The caption to the post was just an emoji of the American flag.
    * It was a nice shot at "America's Team" as the Cowboys have so humbly called themselves for decades!

  25. It sure would have been nice to have the C'boys and for that matter, the Packers on the schedule this year. When it comes to the C'boys, there is an inherent hatred that goes back to late 70' and 80' that makes for very good football.

    That's true, but it has been 20 years since the Cowgirls played in a SB!
    Just my opinion, but they likely won't play in another one as long as JJ refuses to turn control of the team over to his oldest son, Stephan.

    The Packers have their own D problems that need to be addressed.
    1) Outside CB: The departure of Jaire Alexander! Packers need a shutdown corner and depth at the position.
    2) EDGE: Despite Rashan Gary's Pro Bowl nod, the pass rush has been underwhelming, and Lukas Van Ness remains a project.
    3) Interior D Line: The loss of TJ Slaton and Kenny Clark's declining production, means they need to strengthen the interior of the D line.
    4) LB Depth: Edgerrin Cooper shows promise, but LB position has been neglected. They need more talent beyond Cooper.
    5) IOL Depth: Josh Myers is a free agent. Options exist to replace him at center, but depth is a concern.

    2. Razor: Questions for anyone on the blog:
      Will the 2025 Lions be as good as the 2024 team?
      1) Will the Lions OC and DC turnover hurt the team? Both are gone. Doesn't it raise raises questions about their scheme, adjustments and the impact on team performance?
      2) With the departure of Kevin Zeitler and Graham Glasgow, does it not also raise questions at C and R-OG?
      3) Tougher Schedule: The Lions 2025 schedule has a number of playoff teams and challenging matchups on the road, that will test their strength and resilience.
      4) Alim McNeill's Return: Will the timeline and effectiveness of his return from an ACL injury, determine the strength of the
      D line?

      Delete
    3. I expect the Lions to take a step backwards.

      Delete
    4. I expect a dropoff from them as well.
      There are just too many changing parts for me to expect them to maintain or improve.
      I don't know if the offense will drop off much or not... but that depends a lot on the replacement play at OC and OG. If they allow more pressure, I expect Goff's play to drop significantly... if they are able to play at a similar level they should still be a tough out for anyone... especially as the defense could improve simply by getting healthier.
